Josep Martinez will reportedly take Yann Sommer’s place between the sticks in tomorrow’s Coppa Italia clash between Inter Milan and Venezia.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, the 27-year-old could return to the starting lineup amid an ongoing investigation.

Josep Martinez was involved in a fatal car accident in October, which resulted in a tragic loss of life.

Unfortunately, an elderly 81-year-old man passed away, leaving the Spanish goalkeeper on the edge of despair.

Therefore, Cristian Chivu has since refused to play the former Genoa star, giving him time and space to recover from shock.

Martinez has made just two starts this season, featuring against Sassuolo and Cagliari in September.

However, he only conceded once in those two matches, with Inter emerging victorious on both occasions.

Despite being the subject of an ongoing investigation, the Spaniard is likely to return to the starting lineup tomorrow.

Therefore, Sommer will get some rest ahead of Inter’s upcoming Serie A showdown against Como.
