French giants Marseille are reportedly looking to steal a march on Inter Milan in the race to sign Hajduk Split starlet Branimir Mlacic.

According to Croatian outlet Vecernji via FCInterNews, Les Olympiens are looking to hijack Inter’s pursuit of the 18-year-old defender.

Inter Milan have set their sights on Branimir Mlacic, who is making strides in Croatian football.

Despite his young age, the highly-rated teenager has already established himself as a first-team regular at Stadion Poljud.

Furthermore, he has become a key cog for Croatia’s U21 side.

According to the report, Roberto De Zerbi’s charges are willing to offer around €6 million to sign the prodigious center-back.

Despite Marseille’s interest, Inter reportedly remain in pole position to land one of Croatia’s brightest young prospects.

Indeed, the San Siro heavyweights have already initiated contact with Hajduk Split to discuss Mlacic’s transfer to Serie A.

Moreover, the Nerazzurri can rely on Petar Sucic to convince his compatriot to choose Giuseppe Meazza over the Stade Velodrome.
