Como coach Cesc Fabregas has revealed that his club came close to signing two players who now feature for Inter Milan, admitting that both Petar Sucic and Luis Henrique were seriously targeted before their Nerazzurri moves.
Speaking in his pre-match media duties ahead of the Serie A clash at San Siro, Fabregas took part in a light-hearted game where he was asked which Inter players would best fit his style of football.
The former midfielder initially hesitated to list names, but eventually opened up about his long-standing admiration for several Nerazzurri stars.
“I don’t really like giving names. I am a big fan of Lautaro and Dimarco. Sucic feels like one of mine, it was already all done with him.” Fabregas revealed, confirming the midfielder was close to joining Como before Inter secured the deal.
Inter Vs Como – Fabregas: ‘We Wanted Luis Henrique, We Must Have Good Eyes’

He then explained that Como’s recruitment team had also moved for another current Nerazzurri option.
“Last year we tried to bring in Luis Henrique, it means we have good eyes. I’m a big fan of this player, for his football personality,” he added.
Fabregas went on to praise the individual qualities of several Inter players.
“Like Calhanoglu and Dimarco. If you press them, they feel like the best team in the world,” he said.
The Como coach’s comments underline both the ambition of the club’s scouting strategy and his admiration for Inter’s technical leaders.
As his team prepare for the challenge of facing the Nerazzurri, Fabregas made clear that the qualities he seeks in players are the same ones he now sees on the opposite side of the pitch.
