Inter Milan veteran Henrikh Mkhitaryan slammed referee Felix Zwayer after a controversial 1-0 Champions League loss to Liverpool.
Speaking to InterTV via FCInterNews, the 36-year-old couldn’t hide his frustration with Zwayer’s scandalous penalty call.
Liverpool halted Inter’s three-game winning streak in all competitions with a dubious victory at San Siro.
Despite arriving in Milan amid a rough patch, Arne Slot’s side grabbed a last-gasp victory, courtesy of Dominik Szoboszlai’s penalty.
However, there’s an irresistible feeling that Felix Zwayer made a terrible mistake in that fateful 88th minute.
Though the German referee initially refused to point to the spot, he changed his mind after reviewing the incident with VAR.
It was a game of very few chances, yet Inter didn’t deserve to lose despite performing well below their standard.
As a result, the Italian giants’ hopes of securing a sought-after top-eight finish have taken another massive hit.
Meanwhile, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who made his first competitive start since October, didn’t mince words during his post-match interview.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan Slams Felix Zwayer After Inter Milan 0-1 Liverpool Loss

“We need to lift our heads and work harder,” Mkhitaryan said after the match. “Tonight wasn’t our best game, but we shouldn’t forget we were playing against a big team.
“They played well too. In my opinion, it was a balanced match that should’ve ended in a draw.
“Unfortunately, the referee decided to award a phantom penalty.
“We have to put this match behind us because another competition is coming right away.
“We must forget about Liverpool and get back to doing well in the league.”
Mkhitaryan then delivered his verdict on his fitness condition.
“I tried to give my best for my teammates,” he added. “I had a few physical issues, but I tried to stay on the pitch and give everything.
“However, I’ll work even harder to try to help the team.”

I personally wouldn’t blame chivu for the loss against bigger or similar level opponents since we’ve been like this since then. players should take half of responsibilities. we have strong group, but the personal habits of each player could be one of the main issues here
Inter cannot win big games, lost to AM, Liv, Napoli, Milan and Juve. i think inter will not go far in champions league. they have quality players but their attacking against big team defence is shit, they need to play 433 against them, their play is so predictable
Why Chivu keeps playing a 37 year-old who is useless? I do not remember when the this player assist another, we have in the pitch just to run. Miki is not productive.
Miky brings poise and composure to the team. He sees the game with clarity, and every pass he makes has a purpose, initiating a calculated attack. He dictates the tempo like a true conductor of an orchestra .
Refs decisions aside he’s far better than Susic right now because he’s not too passive. This is bad because most of the time under Inzaghi Mikhi was the one to being too careful when Inter needs to raise the match tempo. The ultimate blame however goes to Chivu at this point he’s obsessed with a draw because otherwise why seek for it when you know you can try and win the match and Susic andAugusto aren’t giving you that unless the plan was to close the match and get the draw. Inter can win all of small teams this season in all competitions but if losing against big teams becomes the new normal then Inter aren’t going anywhere. Chivu isn’t brave enough in this big matches and he will definitely out do all the work of winning the first 4 matches because he’s too afraid to face big teams or too obsessed in getting a draw
