Inter Milan have shown a recurring vulnerability in the final quarter of matches, according to Tuttosport, with the trend stretching across Serie A and European fixtures.
The Nerazzurri’s 1-0 Champions League loss to Liverpool is the latest example, following similar collapses against Juventus and Atletico Madrid.
Statistics reveal that 20 goals conceded in 2025 came after the 75th minute, accounting for 30% of Inter’s total.
Focusing only on the current season, four of the 13 goals conceded have arrived late.
While the number is not extreme, only clubs like Hellas Verona, Parma, Cagliari and Udinese have fared worse.
Meanwhile AC Milan, Roma and Napoli maintain significantly better records in the closing stages.
Chivu Inherits Inter Milan Late Problems As Serie A Focus Remains

Tuttosport notes that this tendency is inherited from last season.
Back then, Inter conceded 12 of 35 goals in the final minutes, roughly 34% of their total, a factor in their narrow Scudetto defeat.
Defensive lapses late in games have repeatedly undermined the team.
Therefore suggesting a need for tactical or personnel adjustments to ensure leads are preserved in tight contests.
The pattern indicates that, despite a strong squad, Inter must address fatigue, rotation, and concentration in the closing stages to maintain title ambitions both domestically and in Europe.
Why don’t the media talk about the real issues? Inter have lost too many games already and its clear Chivu is not capable of replicating Inzaghi success. What is the goal of the club? If it was to win Serie a and Champions league why hire an inexperienced coach? So in a World cup year Inter dont have the ambition to win Champions league or Serie a? Just hire an inexperienced coach and hope for the best? Marotta have failed the players, club and fans. Its time for him to leave he has made too many mistakes and stupid decisions and its clear he cant lead the club again.
No. A mere point for the top and in top 8 in ch.l. I understand you like video games, but in reality changing the coach needs solid reasons. Bad refs is not one of them. Stop glory hunting and enjoy the game. The season last 9 months. Lifting the trophy takes 5 min. All the emotions week in and week out cant be replaced with 5 min of jumping. Learn to appreciate the game of football. And in italy that game is tacktical. So if chess is not your cup of tea – you’re welcome to go watch the marathons on the island or the exchange of passes in iberia.
If there is one thing i would like Inter to adapt is to change formations durring the closing stages in order to bag a result. A 4-2-3-1 would be a solid solution for a time when the team is tired and more youngster are present. Double pivot to address the age and double up on the wings to account for late runs. Chivu has managed to transform diouf and bissek, so those changes might happen without the need for subs. So i’m very excited to see what happens next. This season is gonna be even more exciting than the last one.
So stop the negative energy and support our team. We’re all in this together. Forza Inter brothers.
You are my hero
Too many negative nacy’s in here.
Inter have been unlucky in a number of occasions, from refs to injuries to aging players tiring.
Inter played the most games in the world nearly last few seasons….with most their players at Euros and Club World Cup…. and played their fourth game in 10 days while coming up against Liverpool last. No defence rest becuase Drumfries and Darmian have been out injured.
Inter has many positives so far this season considering all the changes and playing pressures.
