Inter Milan long-serving stalwart Denzel Dumfries could reportedly spend the next couple of months in the treatment room.
According to Corriere dello Sport via FCInterNews, the Dutchman is likely to undergo surgery on his left ankle.
Denzel Dumfries picked up an ankle injury during Inter’s home win over Lazio at the start of November.
Indeed, Mattia Zaccagni collapsed on his leg under Petar Sucic’s challenge, causing a sprain that continues to trouble the 29-year-old.
Therefore, Inter must decide whether to sanction surgery immediately or continue with conservative treatment.
Inter Milan Star Denzel Dumfries Faces Protracted Spell on the Sidelines

If Dumfries goes under the knife, it would take at least two months for him to return to full fitness.
Though his long-term absence would significantly weaken Inter’s right flank, surgery feels inevitable.
However, Inter won’t sit tight during the January transfer window.
Genoa’s Brooke Norton-Cuffy and Pisa’s Idrissa Toure have emerged as potential targets for the Nerazzurri.
Meanwhile, Atalanta loanee Marco Palestra remains the club’s dream signing amid his outstanding form at Cagliari.
Dumfries was good for us, but we need someone new there instead of him. Every season there is fitness problems, moaning either about salary or release clause. Good in attack, fast, but not that exceptional in defense, nearing 30 years. Neither Norton nor Toure give me that much confidence they would be solid replacement, rather leave Darmian instead of them. As for Palestra we need to get approval from both Atalanta and Cagliari i think, and that would be really hard in the middle of the season.
Mingueza on expiring contract, our youth Zanotti who is doing good job in Switzerland, same as Dimarco did. Good, young player also seem El Ouahdi from Genk (there seems to be more and more better players from Morocco and Norway). And Holm would be a cheap, much better solution then Genoa or Pisa players.
I think Holm could be good. Considering he can cover both wings and he is not a stranger to attacking. Not familiar with his finishing qualities or delivery though. Not really following anything in depth, but Inter.
