Inter Milan have no intention of letting Alessandro Bastoni leave the club amid growing interest from Barcelona.
According to Tuttosport via FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri are preparing a contract offer that would secure Bastoni’s long-term future at San Siro.
La Liga leaders Barcelona have set their sights on the 26-year-old, who has had several ups and downs this season.
Despite his patchy form, Bastoni remains a vital asset for Inter, which is why they’ve decided to push ahead with a contract renewal.

Bastoni’s current deal at San Siro runs out in 2028.
However, the Italian powerhouse could meet the player’s agent, Tullio Tinti, in the coming months to discuss an extension.
Although the star defender has struggled with inconsistent performances, Cristian Chivu can hardly imagine his defense without the ex-Atalanta star.
Therefore, Inter are unwilling to take any risks and are keen to tie Bastoni down to a new agreement as soon as possible
Meanwhile, Barcelona are not the only team interested in Bastoni.
Several clubs from the Saudi Pro League and England are also in the mix.
Sell him for an outrageous amount if possible. His lack of speed is glaring, his tackling results in fouls called or not most of the time, he is replaceable with the money Inter would get in a transfer. He is not a once in a generation full back (Maldini, Bergomi, Cafu) nor any better than some very good ones (Maicon, Zanetti or even Chivu)
And who will play then? Carlos is good as first sub, not enough for a starter. Oldtimers Darmian, de Vrij and Acerbi, Palacios who hasn’t played at all? Akanji showed nothing better than Basto, plus he’s already 30, he has maybe 2 or 3 more seasons as starting material. Bisseck is currently better than any old defender in squad, but still nowhere as good as Basto.
Re-read what I wrote. Use the money from his sale to get a left sided defender. Clearly, he’s the best one we have currently but he is not irreplaceable. He shines in this Inter because the other defenders are at the same level of mediocrity. Watch his game closely, he fouls ALL the time. He gets away with it based on being Italian, no other reason. If he goes to England or Spain he will have every challenge called a foul. No favorable bias
Yeah, find then one better left-footed cb who can come for half of his price, cause we need 2, 3 cbs before his replacement, and we need to fill even more positions on summer. I know he has his oscillations in form, but beside him we have 4 players over 30 on that position, Palacios who doesn’t play, Bisseck who finally started to show something this season and Carlos who can cover multiple positions, but is not really starter material all the time.
Selling him would be purely business. Of course they are not finding a better replacement at half the price. It is a business being run by business people not football people or passionate interesti. Selling him is profitable and profit is all they are concerned with I am not in favor of selling him because he is good and I realize very challenging to replace. I am just pointing out it is and always will be a business decision for Oaktree.
Yeah, i know that new management isn’t like Moratti, who loved Inter and who knew sometimes you need to give a big cash to buy a player or to decline big offer if quality of squad will fall considerably without proper replacements. In the last 15 years, there were some bad sales, on some we get much less money, but on some players we lost much quality who later grew to be world class players. I regret most that we had to let go of Kovacic, Coutinho and Hakimi. Basto will be amongst them if he leave also.
Only 3 players untouchable for me. Bastoni, Barella and our captain Martinez. Everyone else can go if good offers arrive.
Beside Basto we need to extend contract for both Dima and Carlos by the end of the season. For the rest of squad there aren’t any more needed extensions yet. For most of our younger and important players contract expires in 2029 or later, the rest are either 30 or older, beside Thuram who we must sell in summer for 60, 70 mil.
