Inter Milan defender Stefan de Vrij is reportedly keen to leave the club in January to bolster his national team prospects.

According to Tuttosport via FCInterNews, the 33-year-old is eager to feature for the Netherlands in the upcoming FIFA World Cup.

Despite being a loyal servant to Inter since joining the club in 2018, De Vrij has lost his starting berth at San Siro.

Indeed, the veteran center-back has only made seven competitive appearances under Cristian Chivu this season.

Stefan de Vrij has tumbled down the pecking order since Simone Inzaghi’s departure in June.

Frustrated with a lack of first-team opportunities, the Dutchman has reportedly decided to cut ties with the Nerazzurri.

Furthermore, the former Lazio star wants to represent his country at next summer’s World Cup in North America.

Therefore, he needs to secure regular football in the second half of the season.

Meanwhile, four clubs have expressed their interest in his services.

In addition to long-term admirers, Al-Ittihad, Bologna, Nottingham Forest, and Benfica are ready to fight for his signature.
