Inter are back in Milan and straight back to work, but Italian media warn that the problems exposed by the Supercoppa defeat to Bologna run deeper than tactics or form.
According to Corriere dello Sport, via FCInter1908, there is “no time to switch off.”
Instead, the Nerazzurri must address issues that are fundamentally psychological.
“There is work to be done to resolve the problems,” the paper writes.
Summarising them as “a lack of malice, cynicism and awareness of danger.”
In other words, Inter’s shortcomings are mental, and therefore far more complex to fix.
After Bologna Defeat, Inter Milan Problems Revealed

The analysis stresses that this is not about how Inter play.
The structure and quality are there, but in decisive moments the edge is missing.
Matches are not closed out, warning signs are not always read in time, and opponents are allowed back into games that should already be under control.
The urgency is heightened by the calendar.
January leaves no room for hesitation.
Between now and the 11th, Inter will face Atalanta, Bologna again, and then Napoli in what is shaping up to be a defining head-to-head for the title race.
That is not all.
The month will also close with a dangerous double Champions League clash against Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund.
Indeed, fixtures that will determine Inter’s European future.
For Corriere, the message is clear: quality alone will not be enough.
Unless Inter find sharper instincts and a more ruthless mindset, the margins that keep hurting them will continue to decide their biggest matches.

Fans have to ask themselves what they want- a quick fix, or a long term project… for me, it’s the latter, and Chivu has done more than enough to show that he is worth sticking with, but people ha e to understand that he is a rookie, and will make mistakes… if you want him sacked every time he gets something wrong, then the other option is to go for an ageing manager and ageing players….
Chivu has shown he wants to play aggressive, attacking football, he is willing to put his faith in young players, and he is doing his best with what he has… the problems of weak mentality, and struggling against direct rivals was already here before Chivu arrived! What he needs is another couple of transfer windows to properly refresh an ageing, tired squad!!
Oh, and by the way, last time I checked, we’re top of the league!!
Agreed. Inter need that killer instinct. We could easily have beaten Bologna even after they equalized, if only we were more clinical in the final third. The team dominated in the second half but lacked that second goal which would have certainly killed off Bologna.
Also, we should avoid some silly mistakes in defense that is becoming a trend in a lot of these big games.
The coach should work on taking penalties. We can’t rely on only a few players anymore.
Forza inter.
The main problem is right there on the front page. This apprentice coach is completely unfit to coach Inter. Until they hire a real coach, the problems will only get worse. And another thing; it’s time for Marotta to leave. He’s made a lot of mistakes with his recent signings, and bringing in a trainee to coach the European runners-up was the height of absurdity.
Its mental but they play shiite aswell
What do you expect when management hires an inexperienced coach…all the failures comes down to the stupid decisions made by management. Marotta is in decline and should leave the club. Inter have not been successful during his tenure only winning 2 league titles. That is failure and he should take all the blame and leave the club.
Only 2??? In 4 years. You don’t know much about inter, do you.
