Inter Milan legend Beppe Bergomi has urged the club to address one major shortcoming in the transfer window.
Speaking to Radio Anch’io Lo Sport via FCInterNews, Bergomi discussed Inter’s recent performances.
Cristian Chivu failed to win his first trophy in charge of the Nerazzurri as Bologna ended his Supercoppa Italiana quest.
Indeed, the Rossoblu squeezed past the San Siro giants after a nervy penalty shootout in the semi-finals.
Despite another Riyadh heartbreak, Inter will spend Christmas at the top of the Serie A table.
However, there’s no room for complacency, as Chivu’s men boast a narrow one-point lead over second-placed AC Milan.
Furthermore, reigning holders Napoli trail the Nerazzurri by a single point.
Therefore, this shapes up to be the most dramatic Scudetto race in recent memory.
Meanwhile, Bergomi has identified one area Inter must look to strengthen in January.
With Denzel Dumfries out injured, Inter’s attacks have become one-dimensional.
Luis Henrique has failed to meet expectations, forcing Chivu’s side to attack mostly on the left wing.
Beppe Bergomi Urges Inter Milan to Address Wingback Issue in January

“Regarding Inter, I have my own view,” Bergomi said. “In recent years, they’ve never been the strongest, but they’ve always been very capable.
“When they play well, everyone notices.
“However, structural flaws appear that prevent them from beating others in head-to-head matches, even though they remain strong and top of Serie A.
“Losing to Bologna is understandable because they play well and their coach is a ‘copetero’.
“This year, Inter has fought in the league against Napoli, who are strong and have strengthened.
“PSG won in the final. For me, Inter is following its own path; they’ve changed the coach, and the squad is aging. Patience is needed.
“In midfield, they have everyone playing like a number ten, good at passing. That’s why the summer target was Koné.
“Up front, they need a one-on-one player, and at the back a fast defender who allows you to play with a high line.
“These are the club’s choices. Right now, without Dumfries, Luis Henrique has done well in some matches, but we’re still waiting for him.
“It’s not the same. The team attacks only down the left. They’re missing more than just Calhanoglu, because Zielinski is performing very well.”
Finally, he praised Chivu.
“I think Chivu is communicating well and wants to get everyone in shape,” Bergomi added.
However, he insists Inter must sign a few players in January.
“I understand the financial interests,” he continued. ‘It ends up adding two extra games, then the January fixture congestion, when you could be charging the team up, and instead you’re playing.
“In my opinion, it’s not ideal.”

Josh must be some funny spelling of Troll =))
Sadly, Josh is one very disturbed kid who doesn’t understand basics of football game.
When you think a club of Inter stature can be runned like kids do on Fifa videogame, or Football manager, what else should I call him other than little desillusioned poor manchild.
Stefan, I’m sure you’re with me on this 😀
Inter cannot win anything with Chivu as coach. So serie a is an amateur league now?
Where do you get your energy for constant negativity concerning Inter? We all saw your comments that FCIM is a failed club, Marotta needs to leave and so on…
You don’t have a clue what is going on around the team, and you find yourself rellevant to give an opinion that no one shares because it’s idiotic, lame and childish..
We stay strong with Chivu and directors that named him head coach!!
And for you dear Josh, just fuck off already

Man, Chivu is young coach and he still needs time. Did he make mistakes? Sure, which coach doesn’t make them. Did he keep wrong players in lineup? Yes, hopefully he’ll learn. If he can minimize those losses in big games and tighten his defense so that we allow less goals, then we are golden. We’re still first in league, still ok chances to be in top 8 in CL. There were some comments how it was a disgrace that we only won 2 leagues in 4, 5 years which were ours to take on paper. After our treble we weren’t anywhere on the map, a decade of aimless wandering, i’m satisfied now. Can we do better? Sure, but there still needs to be more support in bringing new players who can immediately impact first team, Inzaghi didn’t get that help. Chivu was given task of taking spots in league which will secure next year CL, quarter finals of current CL probably, and maybe trophy from cup or supercup. He’ll probably check 2 out of those objectives.
El Principe, arguments you pointed out can be agreed upon.. but one thing I cannot agree is that the goal for season is top4 as you mentioned.. Inter always have a goal to win the league, especially in last 4,5 years as you said..
The fact we failed in that regard is another story, but that’s calcio
In the last 5, 6 years since our return to top football our goal was always trophies. This season qualification in CL is mandatory objective, if we manage to win league that’s great. Because Chivu is young, inexperienced coach, new players who weren’t ready to impact and carry starting line, slump in which we were after that monumental loss and trying to get rid of older and spent players this season isn’t under that much pressure to win everything. It’s kind of like a transition year which will hopefully bring us tighter defense, younger, hungrier players who will play faster, more pressing game. As for winning “only” 2 league titles, it’s not like we have 40 of those in our trophy cabinet. If we can stay competitive, with some new good reinforcement it’s not impossible to win 2, 3 more league trophies in the next 5 years, which will bring us closer to Juve’s league trophies.
