Inter Milan will resume their Serie A title pursuit on Sunday when they face out-of-sorts Atalanta at the Gewiss Stadium.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInter1908, the Nerazzurri will return to training on Friday.

Bologna denied Cristian Chivu a chance to win his first title in charge of the San Siro outfit last week.

Indeed, Vincenzo Italiano’s side bested Inter in a dramatic penalty shootout, knocking them out of the Supercoppa semi-finals.

Despite returning from Saudi Arabia over the weekend, Chivu has given his players an extended rest period.

Beating Atalanta would see Inter finish the calendar year at the top of the Serie A table.

Chivu’s charges spent Christmas at the summit after beating Genoa 2-1 in their last league outing.

However, Inter’s lead over second-placed AC Milan is fragile, with the Rossoneri languishing a point adrift of their bitter rivals.

Therefore, the Nerazzurri must win on Sunday.

Bergamo has been a happy hunting ground for Inter lately, as they’ve won their last three away matches against La Dea.
