Veteran goalkeeper Yann Sommer will reportedly reclaim his place between the sticks when Inter Milan take on Atalanta on Sunday.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, the 37-year-old is likely to get the nod ahead of Josep Martinez.

Cristian Chivu handed the Spanish goalkeeper a rare start in Inter’s heartbreaking Supercoppa Italiana loss to Bologna.

Despite losing, Josep Martinez fared exceptionally in goal, making a stunning late save to send the game to penalties.

Furthermore, he saved one penalty in the shootout, but his teammates let him down.

Martinez’s impressive performance in Riyadh probably won’t be enough to dislodge Sommer in Serie A.

Indeed, the former Bayern Munich star remains Chivu’s first-choice goalkeeper in the league.

For context, Sommer has started 13 of Inter’s 15 Serie A games this season.

After being handed some rest last week, he’s now ready to resume his role as Inter’s undisputed number one between the posts.
