Veteran duo Francesco Acerbi and Stefan de Vrij will reportedly leave Inter Milan at the end of the season.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInter1908, the Nerazzurri have decided against renewing their contracts.

Cristian Chivu’s side will undergo a comprehensive defensive overhaul next summer.

In addition to Acerbi and De Vrij, Matteo Darmian has entered the final year of his contract at San Siro.

Meanwhile, the Serie A pacesetters have no intention of offering them fresh terms.

Despite proving more than reliable in recent years, Francesco Acerbi will be 38 in February.

Therefore, Inter will not extend his deal.

On the other hand, De Vrij could depart in January after losing his first-team status under Cristian Chivu.

Indeed, the Dutchman is keen to secure his play for the Netherlands at next summer’s FIFA World Cup.

Moreover, Barcelona have set their sights on the 33-year-old.

With both Acerbi and De Vrij set to leave, Inter have identified several potential targets, including Tarik Muharemovic.
