Inter Milan coach Cristian Chivu has decided to start Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram in attack against Atalanta. This evening’s Serie A clash kicks off at 20:45 CEST in Bergamo.
Inter head into the Serie A clash with the potential of extending their lead at the top of Serie A, pending other results.
The Nerazzurri will be looking to continue their good run of form against an equally impressive Atalanta side.
Chivu continues to face a number of absences, most notably of Denzel Dumfries.

Dumfries has recently undergone surgery and Chivu has chosen Luis Henrique to once again play on the right.
After his move from Marseille in the summer, the Brazilian initially struggled to settle.
However, recent improvements in form have seen Chivu settle on the Brazilian as the ‘stop-gap’ with Dumfries out.
On the opposite flank, Federico Dimarco will start.
In midfield, Calhanoglu will play at the heart of midfield.
Meanwhile, Zielinski will start again, after narrowly edging the ballot against Mkhitaryan.
Star Duo Lautaro & Thuram Lead Line For Inter In Atalanta Showdown
One of the major pre-match talking points was focused on Chivu’s front line.
The Inter coach has four impressive forwards at his disposal but has decided to rely on captain and top scorer Lautaro Martinez.
The choice was made slightly easier by the injury suffered by Ange-Yoan Bonny.
The French starlet started the Supercoppa defeat to Bologna alongside compatriot Marcus Thuram.
However, he suffered a slight injury and is unavailable for selection.
Lautaro has a strong record in recent seasons against La Dea and Chivu once again turns to the Argentine.
Meanwhile, Thuram has been given the start alongside the captain, despite reports suggesting Chivu may turn to youngster Pio Esposito.

Happy with the win but I see us struggling every match and to win like this, yes we need luck in football. We deserved to win, but… I don’t see us go far either in serie a or in champions league. Even if we end the season in 2nd place or 3rd I will be happy because it’s clear this team needs some new fresh legs. Imagine you keep the same players for almost 5 years.. It’s good but some players change, get older and don’t have this energy they used to have 5 years ago. Plus we also changed coaches. Disappointing performance; we won only bc of that silly mistake of Djimsiti. I am starting to be pessimistic about our ability to win any trophy this season. Maybe top 4 and the last 16 in the UCL is the most this team can reach.

Important win, Luis had a solid game, as surprise to us all. I would give more chances to Pio as starter instead of lazy Thuram.

Many here are thrashing at our captain, but he’s our best striker. He can play in tandem with any striker, but i think he shines the most when there’s a strong player like Pio and Lukaku with him. Season after season he scores 20+ goals, with assists, his goal contribution is almost every year over 30, while Thuram still didn’t get to 20 goals in a season, not once, and there’s been news like he’s almost in top 5 current strikers, a joke. Positive impressions from both Pio and Bonny so far. I would rather we sell Thuram on summer and buy a pair of wingers so Chivu can play with both this current formation and 4-2-3-1.

Playing with both Enrique and Diouf make us weak
Inter only needed to hold the ball and waste time. Henrique did well overall. This is one of the big match where he did very well. Diouf can definitely dribble and he’s not afraid to do so which means he can open up defences

Not bad first half. Just a little bit too rush for the goal, they tried too much on the shot which makes them missed. Chivu needs to calm down everyone and let them know goal will come.
