Inter Milan coach Cristian Chivu oversaw a vital 1-0 win over bitter Serie A rivals Atalanta last night.

According to Corriere dello Sport via FCInter1908, the 45-year-old demonstrated his tactical flexibility in Bergamo.

The Nerazzurri lined up in their trademark 3-5-2 formation at the start of the game.

However, Cristian Chivu made minor tweaks, with Piotr Zielinski replacing Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the engine room.

That decision was perfect as the 31-year-old midfielder delivered an astonishing performance.

Inter headed into the final ten minutes boasting a narrow lead, courtesy of Lautaro Martinez’s ninth league goal of the season.

Despite dominating proceedings for most of the game, Inter relinquished control in the final stages.

Indeed, Atalanta recovered control in pursuit of an equalizer.

Furthermore, Lazar Samardzic squandered a golden chance to draw La Dea level in the 87th minute.

Meanwhile, Chivu adjusted his approach to protect the lead, switching from a 3-5-2 to a 5-4-1.

Therefore, Andy Diouf took Lautaro’s place in the 83rd minute to help Inter fend off Atalanta’s pressure.

And it paid off.
