Inter Milan defender Manuel Akanji marshalled the backline as the Nerazzurri claimed a 3-1 home win over Bologna last night.

According to the Italian media via L’Interista, the 30-year-old center-back displayed unparalleled composure.

Cristian Chivu’s side returned to the top of the Serie A table with a commanding victory at San Siro.

Furthermore, last season’s runners-up have now won five consecutive league games for the first time this term.

Unfortunately, they failed to keep a clean sheet, as Santiago Castro scored a consolation goal for Bologna in the 83rd minute.

Akanji rarely put his foot wrong throughout the game.

However, he made an uncharacteristic mistake at the start of the second half, giving the ball away rather cheaply.

Unfazed by a rare error, he immediately bounced back, demonstrating his class and confidence.

Moreover, he was calm and collected in possession, helping Inter build their attacks from the back.

Bologna’s feeble pressing allowed him plenty of time on the ball, which he used to orchestrate Inter’s build-up play effectively.
