Inter are working on outgoing midfield deals as they close in on Croatian defender Branimir Mlacic, with the Nerazzurri planning to refresh their squad ahead of next season.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Mlacic has become an increasingly concrete target for Inter as they look to rejuvenate the defence.

The club have reportedly set aside a budget of around €5 million to secure the 2007-born talent from Hajduk Split, with whom relations remain excellent.

Inter have accelerated in their efforts to wrap up the deal, the report notes.

However, the player could well stay in Croatia on loan until the end of the season.

Inter see the deal as an investment for the future rather than an immediate reinforcement.

At the same time, exits are being explored in midfield.

Davide Frattesi is still waiting for developments after intense contacts with Galatasaray in recent weeks.

Indeed, with Inter open to a sale should a suitable offer arrive.

Kristjan Asllani is also under evaluation after returning from an underwhelming loan spell at Torino.

“Girona have recently asked for information about him,” the report adds.

Therefore, raising the possibility that the Albania international could finally open up to a move abroad.
