Inter prepare to face Napoli with Hakan Calhanoglu once again at the centre of attention, as the Turkey international reflects on his role at Inter, his teammates, and the mindset needed for a decisive clash at San Siro.

According to the club’s official MatchDay Programme, Calhanoglu spoke openly about where his love for football began, tracing it back to his family and his earliest experiences with the ball.

“My passion was born thanks to my father,” he explained.

“He passed on the values and love for this sport. I started playing football as a child, in the street with my friends. We met every day and spent hours with the ball at our feet.”

Asked which quality he would borrow from a teammate, the midfielder highlighted the variety within Cristian Chivu’s squad.

“Everyone has important characteristics, it’s not easy,” Calhanoglu said.

“I could say Marcus’ speed or Bisseck’s heading ability.”

His own trademark shooting technique, often cited by teammates as something they would like to steal, also has deep roots.

“That comes from my father,” he explained.

“I trained a lot to strike the ball with precision and power. I aimed for the corners or the crossbar to make it harder.”

Calhanoglu also underlined his growth away from the spotlight. “I’ve matured a lot defensively,” he said.

“I like duels, going onto the pitch with grit and fighting for my team. Motivation is fundamental. Like my teammates, I always want to give 100 per cent for our families and our fans.”

Those qualities will be vital as Inter look to impose themselves against Napoli.
