VAR bailed out veteran referee Daniele Doveri in last night’s Serie A showdown between Inter Milan and Napoli.
According to Corriere dello Sport via FCInter1908, the 48-year-old could’ve made a grave mistake had it not been for VAR.
Napoli held Inter to an intense 2-2 draw at San Siro, avoiding defeat in a fifth consecutive league clash against the Nerazzurri.
Indeed, Scott McTominay scored a game-defining double for the visitors, including a late equalizer.
Meanwhile, Federico Dimarco and Hakan Calhanoglu were on the scoresheet for Inter.
VAR Saves Daniele Doveri in Inter Milan 2-2 Napoli Draw

Amir Rrahmani made a silly tackle on Henrikh Mkhitaryan inside Napoli’s box around the 70th minute.
However, Daniele Doveri initially refused to award a penalty, allowing play to continue.
Yet, after receiving a strong suggestion from VAR, the experienced referee changed his mind, sending Calhanoglu to the spot.
Otherwise, he handled all other situations with authority.
Moreover, his decision not to sanction Juan Jesus over a reckless challenge on Marcus Thuram in the first half was also correct.
