Veteran referee Daniele Doveri performed well in Sunday’s blockbuster Serie A showdown between Inter Milan and Napoli.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, the 48-year-old has received broad plaudits for his solid display.
Inter and Napoli shared the spoils in an intense 2-2 draw at San Siro.
Though the game produced a fair share of controversial moments, Daniele Doveri handled the pressure well.
Indeed, the experienced referee had to make numerous hard decisions.

For starters, Doveri didn’t book Juan Jesus for a reckless tackle on Marcus Thuram in the first half.
Despite kicking the Frenchman in the chest, the former Nerazzurri defender didn’t show malice.
Therefore, Doveri was correct not to show him a yellow card.
However, there was a huge oversight from one of Italy’s most highly rated referees.
Indeed, he failed to spot Amir Rrahmani’s challenge on Henrikh Mkhitaryan inside Napoli’s penalty area.
Yet, after reviewing the incident with VAR, Doveri changed his decision, sending Hakan Calhanoglu to the spot.
As such, Gianluca Rocchi hailed Doveri after the game.
