Inter Milan are ready to welcome Branimir Mlacic after winning the race ahead of Genoa and Udinese.

The 2007-born defender arrives from Hajduk Split in a deal worth around €5 million.

Mlacic will sign a five-year contract with Inter.

He will remain in Croatia on loan until the end of the season.

Sky Sport report that Inter have resolved the final bureaucratic steps needed to close the deal.

In recent days, Genoa and Udinese both tried to enter the negotiations.

However, Inter had already built a decisive advantage.

The Nerazzurri moved early and never lost control of the operation.

As a result, late approaches from rival Serie A clubs failed to change the outcome.

Mlacic will travel to Italy at the start of next week.

He will complete his medical examinations and sign his contract shortly after.

Inter view the defender as a key investment for the future.

The club continue to prioritise young players with high potential.

By closing the deal ahead of domestic rivals, Inter believe they have secured one of the most promising defensive talents to emerge from Croatia.
