Italian media unanimously backed Cristian Chivu’s decision to start Francesco Pio Esposito alongside Lautaro Martinez in Inter’s 1-0 win away to Udinese, hailing the Italy starlet as decisive once again.
La Gazzetta dello Sport, via L’Interista, focused on Esposito’s all-round contribution rather than just goals.
Indeed, noting: “Fourth assist for Lautaro and constant movement as a pivot striker: layoffs, physical duels and fierce battles with Kabasele. Goals are not the only thing that matters.”
The paper highlighted his intelligence in holding up play and bringing teammates into dangerous areas.
Udinese 0-1 Inter – Pio Esposito ‘Decisive Again’

TuttoMercatoWeb underlined the significance of Chivu’s call after Esposito’s decisive goal against Lecce earlier in the week.
“After scoring the winner against Lecce, he received full trust from Chivu and was named in the starting XI alongside Lautaro. The choice proved correct, as he was decisive with the assist for the captain’s goal,” TMW wrote.
The performance reinforced the growing chemistry between Esposito and Lautaro, offering Inter a credible alternative attacking partnership without sacrificing balance or intensity.
Esposito’s physical presence, pressing and link-up play once again gave Inter a reference point up front, especially against Udinese’s deep and physical defensive block.
Pio Esposito ratings:
La Gazzetta dello Sport: 7
Corriere dello Sport: 7
Tuttosport: 7
