Inter Milan are entering a crucial end to January as the club look to protect momentum and add reinforcements.

According to Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, January represents a defining crossroads for Inter’s season.

The Nerazzurri can stretch their lead over direct rivals in Serie A while also strengthening the squad for the second half of the campaign.

Chivu wants an additional wide option of proven quality to manage the workload ahead.

Inter face Pisa today and could move temporarily six points clear at the top of the table.

The result would allow Chivu’s side to watch Juventus vs Napoli and Roma vs Milan with a clear advantage.

Next weekend offers another opportunity. Inter host Cremonese, while several rivals face direct clashes, including Bologna vs Milan, Napoli vs Fiorentina, Udinese vs Roma and Parma vs Juventus.

The run does not ease after that. Sassuolo follow, a fixture that has often caused problems for Inter in recent seasons.

All of this comes alongside Champions League commitments and a Coppa Italia quarter-final, adding further strain to the calendar.

For that reason, Chivu has asked for a reliable alternative who can raise the level immediately. Ivan Perisic remains the dream target.

If PSV exit the Champions League, Inter could make a fresh attempt. The coming days will therefore shape not only January, but the direction of Inter’s entire season.
