Manuel Akanji will return to his old stomping ground when Serie A leaders Inter Milan take on Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday.

According to Corriere dello Sport via FCInterNews, the 30-year-old is most likely to start at Signal Iduna Park.

Manuel Akanji, who joined Inter from Manchester City on loan in the summer, made a name for himself in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Indeed, he played for Die Borussen between 2018 and 2022 before moving to the Etihad Stadium for a reported fee of £15 million.

After resting against Pisa on Friday, Akanji is likely to regain his starting spot on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, another former Dortmund star returns to Signal Iduna Park.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan is in contention for the starting lineup following an impressive performance against Pisa.

However, Cristian Chivu has yet to decide whether to start the veteran midfielder over Petar Sucic.

On the other hand, the 45-year-old has already made up his mind about the attacking department.

Indeed, Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram will reportedly lead the line.
