Inter Milan have emerged as a surprise contender in the developing contract saga surrounding Weston McKennie, with the Juventus midfielder facing an uncertain future in Turin.
The United States international is under contract until June 2026, but negotiations over an extension have yet to produce an agreement, as per FCInter1908.
The main stumbling block is not simply wages, but the overall cost of the operation, which has complicated progress between the player’s representatives and the Bianconeri hierarchy.
Not Just Inter, MLS call Juventus’ McKennie

Transfer insider Matteo Moretto outlined the situation while speaking on a YouTube channel run by Fabrizio Romano.
“I can give you three points,” Moretto explained.
“The first is that Juventus will make another attempt to renew him, but the real problem is the additional costs of the deal. MLS is a concrete scenario for the player, he has received several approaches and calls from the league and he has never been indifferent to the idea of returning home. The third point is that in recent weeks Inter have also asked for information about McKennie on a free transfer.”
That leaves McKennie with three clear pathways: extend his stay with Juventus, pursue a move to Major League Soccer, or wait to see whether Inter’s interest develops into something more concrete.
For Inter, the attraction is obvious. A versatile, high-energy midfielder with Serie A experience available at zero transfer fee fits the club’s recent strategy of opportunistic market moves.
For Juventus, however, losing a regular squad option to a direct domestic rival would be a bitter pillm and could add extra urgency to their next round of renewal talks.

Average at best. Won’t offer anything we don’t already have.
He should replace Barella, hes a hardworking player, runs for a whole game create chances and better than frattesi. We should go for him asap.
HELL NO!
How will Mc Kennie improve the squad? That will be a waste of money…….
He’s from Juve and he’ll ask massive salary, so we don’t need him. Stankovic and Akinsanmiro for outgoing Mhiki and Frattesi in midfield. In case Hakan leaves, we’ll need a strong defensive midfielder. Considering our budget, big name signing is highly unlikely, so Martel from Koln will be a good option. Available on free, 23 year old, low salary, 3 years regular in Bundesliga, big resale value and let’s face it, as far as younger players in question, Bundesliga is far ahead of us.
He plays multiple positions but I am not sure how or where he would fit at Inter. Additionally, he has far more options than the article highlights. Many clubs will seek his services. He is having a great season by any measure.
Not what we need at all.
I haven’t watched him a lot but he seems athletic, versatile, and intelligent. He could cover wings and midfield. He’d not exactly a midfield enforcer but more so than anyone on the team, now. Dont love taking juventinos.
I mean there’s no room for complaint other than him being at juventus. He’s been their standout player this season and lost all his weight. Better than half our midfield atm. Good player to have.
NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! HE SUCKS AND FAT!!!!!
Hell no!
