Inter Milan fell to a disappointing 3-1 defeat at Bodo/Glimt in the first leg of their Champions League playoff tie last night.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri ‘slipped’ at an ‘unacceptable’ pitch.

Playing on synthetic turf was always going to be a challenge for the San Siro giants.

However, not in his wildest dreams had Cristian Chivu expected to lose by a two-goal margin.

Unfortunately, several training sessions on the artificial pitch failed to prepare Inter for this task.

Despite heading into halftime on level terms, with Francesco Pio Esposito restoring parity, Inter suffered a heavy loss in Norway.

Indeed, Kjetil Knutsen’s side netted two unanswered second-half goals to secure a massive first-leg advantage.

Therefore, Inter will have a mountain to climb when the two sides renew hostilities in the return fixture next week.

However, the synthetic pitch took a toll last night, with star striker Lautaro Martinez picking up a ‘serious’ injury.

As such, El Toro is at risk of missing the second leg.
