Inter Milan resumed training today after suffering a gut-wrenching UEFA Champions League (UCL) elimination at the hands of Bodo/Glimt.
According to Sky Sport Italia via FCInter1908, the team held a calm meeting this morning despite the disappointment of last night’s defeat.
Cristian Chivu failed to overcome the first knockout hurdle, as the Norwegian champions thumped the Nerazzurri in the playoffs.
Indeed, Kjetil Knutsen’s men won both legs by an aggregate score of 5-2.
Therefore, Inter will not compete in the Round of 16 for the first time since the 2020/21 season.
Inter Milan Players Calm in Training After UCL Fiasco

Chivu’s charges gathered at the Pinetina this morning to start preparations for the upcoming Serie A clash against Genoa.
Despite yesterday’s heartbreak at San Siro, the players looked calm and determined to put the Champions League disappointment behind them.
Meanwhile, star playmaker Hakan Calhanoglu is facing a race against time to make the matchday squad.
Indeed, the 32-year-old has missed Inter’s last three matches in all competitions due to a calf injury.
However, there’s an outside chance for the skilled midfielder to at least make the bench on Saturday.
This narrative that Chivu plays more vertically is really annoying. In terms of coaching especially tactically Inzaghi is far more superior. With Chivu you get a felling that Inter is way more predictable and one dimensional. With Inzaghi we played beautiful football, we could slow play down and invite the press then play beautifully through it, we could sit back and hit teams on the counter (Arsenal 1:0, Barcelona 4:3…), we were way more dangerous with nonstop position rotations. I think this is not the sistem Chivu wants to play but feels its safer to stay with a 352 and win the Scudetto. In my opinion next season he needs to show how he wants to play, which system…But the truth is that with Inzaghi this team would again be in the next phase of the UCL.
Inzaghi played boring football, why so short memory? Remeber the infinite back pass where Sommer had more touches than our strikers? I prefer losing a match but our team attacking non stop than sit back and defend for our lives.
inzaghi played like Bodo. like an underdog.. defending with the whole team. it made us win from giants and lose from the most weakest teams. i loved inzaghi as a person and he was a mastermind. but im happy we have chivu now he gives us much more entertainment and good feeling for the fans and the players.
chivu is going to win the scudetto in his first year with a garbage squad. inzaghi lost 3 scudetti. calm down bozo.
this is more or less, the same squad with which Inzaghi reached two UCL finals. we can even argue that Chivu has more firepower up front (Pio and Bonny, when compared to completely useless Arnautovic and Taremi).
if we really want to argue, Inzaghi would never give anyone below the age of 30 a chance to play.
ok, but which young players did Inzaghi have on his disposal worthy of Inter’s first team, who specifically?
True, im also sayinfg this
I wouldn’t call this a garbage squad. Quite the contrary, actually. Not saying it’s a squad full of superstars, but there are very good players on this squad with some world-class sprinkled here and there. Unfortunately, players like Bastoni, Thuram, and Barella have been playing well below their standard, Dumfries and Hakan have been absent due to injuries, and some of the summer transfers haven’t contributed much.
That said, this team should’ve been able to get past Bodo. For this, some of the blame has to fall on Chivu for not taking the first leg seriously.
Despite this loss, I still back Chivu. He’s been great rotating players (which is ironic, since that’s what caused the debacle in the first leg), he’s giving youth way more chances than Inzaghi, and his approach is also more vertical. He’s still learning, but he’s also showing great signs at least on this season.
Going out is ok but the way you get out matters a lot. Chivu really miscalculated in the first leg match. Akanji did make a big mistake but it was Chivu who decided to play Susic(very soft player) and Barella(The worst this season returning from injury) and Mikhi. It basically meant Inter had no one who had the desire to score from midfield then in defence it was if he didn’t do any preparation for Bodo attackers and started Acerbi which guarantees at least two goals to be conceded if he plays against fast attackers. The Acerbi decision was probably the worst decision it was like playing with 10 men. The Henrique situation has no logical sense so Inter will just survive and hopefully he gets sold over the summer but he looks to be Chivu favourite even tho he’s mediocre at best and will probably continue to be a starter when Dumfries leaves
Yes they need a pat on the back because of how much they sucked with bodo
