Inter Milan could reportedly sell star midfielder Nicolo Barella at the end of the season to strengthen their summer war chest.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInter1908, the Italian ace could fall victim to the club’s planned overhaul.
Nicolo Barella has become one of the symbols of this Nerazzurri side since joining the club from Cagliari in 2019.
Indeed, the 29-year-old has made over 320 appearances for the club in all competitions, racking up 26 goals and 66 assists.

Despite his influential presence in the dressing room, Barella’s form has fallen off a cliff this season.

This is stupid, especially considering how old Mkhi, Calha and Zielinski are. They need to get rid of Mkhi, Asllani, Darmian, Sommer, Dvrj, Acerbic and Thuram. We already know Stankovic is returning for next season. Marotta is great at signing players at a low cost, but terrible at getting a good return on players leaving. Oaktree are American and only care about money. They don’t care about Italy, the club and it’s future. I miss Zhang.

People seem to forget this guy is very negative during matches and sets the tone for everyone. He has been good over the years but now almost all the quality and match winning instincts are completely gone and only the annoying complaining to the ref and team mates has remained

Covering for hakan, for miki, for luis…its not easy for him to do all that while maintaining his normal high level. Lets not forget he has been the engine of this team for 6 years. I say he deserves some credit for what he has done. Adding stankovic should in theory give niko some breathing room.
But there will be no sale.
Financially selling him may be smart. Along with Bastoni the funds raised would finance purchases. Despite likely winning the Scudetto a fresh squad will be required soon. Thuram can be sold too to raise funds as well. Smart purchases will be required and that seems to be Inter’s management problem.

Fratessi will certainly be gone. Replacing them I agree will be challenging. If Barella were not Italian he would be sold for sure. Oaktree stated they wanted Italian players in the squad. Sell when his value is high.
I don’t think selling Barella is a good idea. He is still quality and has been our performer even with the lack of quality in our squad. We need to make drastic changes to how we play which includes our formation. The 3 back is really a cheap option to not buy wingers who can dribble. Dimarco is a good at what he does and has been a big help to us since our only way of scoring is through crosses. But he does not have the quality of a proper winger and loses the ball too much making miss passes or crosses.
Frankly, I understand why a lot of heat is on Barella. He has given inter fans so much joy with the quality of his play over the years that we have come to expect nothing less.
We need the old Barella back… hope he hears us.
