Inter Milan and AC Milan are set for a summer derby battle in the transfer market, with Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka emerging as a priority target for both clubs

According to Tuttosport, via FCInter1908, Goretzka has decided against renewing his Bayern contract and will be a free agent this summer.

Indeed, making him one of the most attractive players available.

He rejected Atletico Madrid in January, preferring to assess his options carefully at the end of the season.

It is a decision that has only increased competition for his signature.

According to Tuttosport, Milan moved first, viewing him as the “European calibre” reinforcement needed for their Champions League return.

Inter’s interest is equally serious and perhaps more strategically motivated.

Cristian Chivu wants to transition to a 3-4-2-1 system next season, and Goretzka fits that vision perfectly.

Oaktree’s reluctance to sign over-30s appears to have softened for elite-level targets.

The Calhanoglu situation adds further urgency for Inter.

Galatasaray are pushing hard for the Turkish midfielder.

And, if no extension is agreed, a sale becomes likely, making Goretzka’s arrival even more necessary.

Napoli and Premier League clubs also have interest, and Goretzka’s salary demands of around €7 million annually plus a signing-on fee make this a complex operation for any suitor.
