Yann Sommer has been Inter’s starting goalkeeper this season.

Despite several underwhelming performances, Cristian Chivu continues to trust the 37-year-old star.

Therefore, the Swiss shot-stopper has started 93% of Inter’s Serie A matches.

With Sommer starting almost every league game and each of Inter’s ten Champions League outings, Martinez has been on the fringes.

However, he has been in goal in both previous Coppa Italia ties against Venezia and Torino.

Therefore, Chivu will continue to rely on the former Genoa keeper in Italy’s most prestigious cup competition.

Still, this could be Martinez’s last season at Inter, with the club yet to decide whether to keep him beyond the summer.

Indeed, it’s a near-certainty that the Nerazzurri will sign a new goalkeeper at the end of the season to replace the outgoing Sommer.
