Inter Milan strikers Francesco Pio Esposito and Ange-Yoan Bonny fell short of expectations in last night’s Serie A defeat to AC Milan.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, Inter’s attacking pair failed to rise to the occasion.

AC Milan squeaked past Inter on Sunday evening, as Pervis Estupnian scored the winning goal to keep the Rossoneri’s Scudetto hopes alive.

Indeed, the Ecuadorian wingback broke the deadlock in the 35th minute after running behind Luis Henrique, who delivered another dismal performance.

However, Inter had more than enough time to bounce back, but they couldn’t find a way past Milan’s low defensive block.

With Lautaro Martinez injured and Marcus Thuram struggling with a flu, Cristian Chivu had to turn to Pio Esposito and Bonny to lead the line.

Despite faring well all season, both players failed to make any kind of impact last night.

Indeed, Bonny, despite testing and probing Fikayo Tomori, couldn’t win a single duel against the Englishman.

Meanwhile, Esposito often struggled to cope with Strahinja Pavlovic’s physical strength and aerial dominance.

As a result, Chivu’s men have now gone back-to-back matches without scoring, having also drawn a blank against Como in the Coppa Italia last Tuesday.
