Inter Milan manager Cristian Chivu met the club’s chiefs the day after his side fell to a 1-0 defeat to Serie A title rivals AC Milan.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio met the coach to discuss the next steps.

Despite losing both editions of the famous Milan derby this season, Inter remain in pole position to lift the Scudetto.

Indeed, the Nerazzurri boast a seven-point lead over the second-placed Rossoneri, with just ten games left to play.

Therefore, the club’s senior figures have rallied behind Cristian Chivu as Inter aim to finish the job down the final stretch.

Beppe Marotta and Ausilio have reportedly reiterated their trust in the former Parma coach, who’s on the verge of winning the Scudetto.

Though Inter have developed a habit of faltering in ‘big games,’ Chivu has fared impressively in his first season at the club.

As such, he enjoys the full backing of the club hierarchy, who remain confident he can guide the Nerazzurri to the Serie A title.

With a healthy advantage at the top of the table, Inter’s primary objective is to immediately get back to winning ways.

Furthermore, they won’t have to wait long to bounce back, with Atalanta rolling into town on Saturday.
