Inter Milan star Davide Frattesi is reportedly at risk of losing his place in the Italy national team to Roma starlet Niccolo Pisilli.

According to Corriere dello Sport via FCInterNews, the Giallorossi teenager could take the Nerazzurri ace’s place in the upcoming call-up.

Davide Frattesi has been a marginal figure at San Siro in the last two years.

Indeed, the 26-year-old had struggled to secure regular first-team action under former manager Simone Inzaghi.

Despite his pre-season promise, new boss Cristian Chivu has failed to re-establish the Italian midfielder this term.

For context, Frattesi has only made three Serie A starts, increasing the likelihood of a summer departure.

Frattesi’s woes at San Siro are well-documented, but his international status has not been in jeopardy until now.

However, it appears that Gennaro Gattuso could omit the former Sassuolo man from his squad for March’s fixtures.

Indeed, Italy will face Northern Ireland in a high-stakes 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying playoffs later this month.

With a place at the most prestigious tournament on the line, Gattuso cannot afford to rely on players lacking regular club minutes.

Therefore, Frattesi could make way for the in-form Roma youngster.
