Denzel Dumfries is ready to reclaim his place in Inter Milan’s starting lineup for Saturday’s Serie A clash with Atalanta, 125 days after his last appearance from the first minute, as Cristian Chivu prepares to make several changes forced by injury ahead of a match that historically tends to smile on the Nerazzurri.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, Dumfries goes head-to-head with Luis Henrique for the right wing-back berth.
The Dutchman’s last start came on November 9th 2025.
Chivu now has a decision to make over whether to throw him straight back into the XI.
Or, instead, to continue to manage his return gradually.
Given the importance of the fixture, the signs point toward Dumfries getting the nod.
Inter Vs Atalanta – Dumfries Back In For Henrique

Chivu remains without Lautaro Martinez, Calhanoglu and Bastoni.
Carlos Augusto is set to fill in at left centre-back in Bastoni’s absence, with a three-way contest for the remaining defensive spots between Akanji, Bisseck and Acerbi.
The former Lazio man has not featured in Serie A for seven matches.
However, his qualities as a man-marker against Scamacca could see him handed a rare start, with Akanji shifting to the right of the three if that is the case.
In midfield, the shape is clearer.
Zielinski operates as regista, with Barella and Mkhitaryan as the two mezzala.
Although Mkhitaryan faces competition from Sucic for his spot.
Up front, Esposito and Thuram start together, with the Frenchman yet to score since Lautaro’s injury and eager to end that drought.
Probable Inter XI (3-5-2): Sommer; Bisseck/Acerbi, Akanji, Carlos Augusto; Dumfries/Luis Henrique, Barella, Zielinski, Mkhitaryan/Sucic, Dimarco; Esposito, Thuram.
