The last time that Inter Milan were Italian champions was in the 2023/24 season. Since then, they’ve been fighting to regain supremacy in Serie A, with this being the campaign where they look highly likely to achieve their target.

As things stand, Inter are sitting pretty at the top of the table, with winning the title in their hands.

How Inter Milan Got There

Inter Milan, according to every specialist sportsbook, including those with an online casino, are the firm favourites to be crowned champions this season. And, they’ve managed to get into this position by doing something a lot better than teams around them: winning games. Now, it may seem obvious that winning games is how a title is won, so maybe the better answer is that Inter have drawn fewer games than others.

Now, it may seem obvious that winning games is how a title is won, so maybe the better answer is that Inter have drawn fewer games than others.

At the time of writing, after 28 games played, Inter have won 22, drawing only once, and losing five. Now, if you look at AC Milan’s record after 28 games played, they’ve won 17 and drawn nine, losing twice. Inter have been a winning machine, and while they may have lost more games than AC Milan, who are second, the winning and lack of stalemates have been hugely significant.

Even After A Defeat You’d Count On Inter

Last time out, Inter lost 1-0 to AC Milan. While that was a blow, because of who the defeat was against and as both teams are locked in a race for the title, the signs remain good for Inter.

The last time Inter lost in Serie A was also against AC Milan. The scoreline was 1-0, and this happened on November 23. Following that, Inter went on a winning run of seven games, drew 2-2 with Napoli, then won another seven in a row.

The sign of a good team, and a side capable of winning things, is how they respond to a setback. And going off recent history, defeats are only blips for Inter.

They’re capable of quickly moving on and putting together another significant winning run. If they can repeat this, they will be champions.

A Seven Point Advantage for Inter Milan in the Serie A Race

Having a strong points advantage at this stage of the season, with just 10 Serie A games to play, is huge. Inter currently hold a seven-point lead over AC Milan, and have a much better goal difference of 42, compared to AC Milan’s 24.

With Inter only dropping 16 points all season, it’s very difficult to see them giving up another 7 points between now and May 24.

If Inter were to lose top spot, which is highly unlikely, it wouldn’t only require them to take a serious dip in form; it would require the likes of AC Milan and potentially Napoli to be almost perfect. In their last ten games, AC Milan have dropped a total of 11 points, so the idea of them being able to win their remaining fixtures without any slip-ups feels highly unlikely.

Conclusion

While this is football, an unpredictable sport, it does feel like Inter Milan have at least one hand on the title.

Their seven-point advantage, superior goal difference, and their ability to win put them in a very strong position. Then factor in that the teams trailing them haven’t been able to win games consistently without dropping points, and you can see why winning the title is in Inter’s hands.
