Referee Gianluca Manganiello could face repercussions after a catastrophic display in Saturday’s Serie A draw between Inter Milan and Atalanta.
According to Corriere dello Sport via FCInterNews, the 45-year-old is at risk of being suspended for the upcoming matchdays.
Despite being promoted by Gianluca Rocchi’s assistant, Andrea Gervasoni, Manganiello failed to meet expectations.
Indeed, he made several huge mistakes, directly contributing influencing the course of the game and ultimately the final score.
Furthermore, his VAR assistants also missed key incidents, sparking outrage among Inter Milan players, staff, and fans.
Therefore, Rocchi is contemplating actions against several high-profile Serie A figures.
Gianluca Manganiello & Daniele Chiffi Facing Repercussions After Inter Milan 1-1 Atalanta Draw
It’s now a near-certainty that Gianluca Manganiello won’t be among the designated referees for Matchday 30.
Moreover, the same fate could befall VAR official Matteo Gariglio and his assistant, Daniele Chiffi, who failed to intervene on multiple crucial calls.
Indeed, their mistakes have raised serious questions about the integrity of officiating in Serie A, with each mistake coming at Inter’s expense.
While they could be forgiven for failing to spot Ederson’s foul on Denzel Dumfries, it’s hard to fathom how they didn’t see Giorgio Scalvini’s tackle on Davide Frattesi.
As a result, the Italian Football Federation is reportedly considering disciplinary measures.

What good has VAR done? I don’t celebrate goals anymore because they are so often reversed because of marginal and irrelevant calls. The delayed offside calls are ridiculous. Many offside calls are dubious and debatable. Obvious fouls and handballs are not reviewed. Slow motion replays give a false impression of contact. Players are still diving and going unpunished. There is clearly still corruption or bias in many decisions.
It ruins the flow of the game and has only caused further controversy.
Bring back the element of human error. I’m ok with that.
Daniela…chifi…everytime…every…single….time
