Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez is reportedly at risk of missing Sunday’s Serie A showdown against bottom-half Fiorentina.

According to Corriere dello Sport via FCInterNews, El Toro has yet to recover from a calf injury and could remain on the sidelines until the international break.

Lautaro Martinez has been out of action since mid-February, leaving the Nerazzurri short of options in the final third.

Indeed, he suffered a calf injury in the first leg of Inter’s fateful Champions League knockout tie against Bodo/Glimt last month.

Therefore, Cristian Chivu was unable to call upon the 28-year-old in the last two Serie A matches against AC Milan and Atalanta.

Furthermore, he was in the pits as Inter drew 0-0 against Como in the first leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final tie.

Despite resuming training in midweek, the Argentine striker has been working separately from the rest of the team.

Indeed, he has had several personalized training sessions, but he is still at risk of missing Sunday’s trip to Stadio Artemio Franchi.

As such, he could return to action after the international break.

In the meantime, Chivu will rely on Francesco Pio Esposito and out-of-sorts Marcus Thuram to shoulder the scoring burden.
