Serie A giants Inter Milan could make an audacious swoop for Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker to replace Yann Sommer in the summer.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, Tottenham Hotspur’s demands for Guglielmo Vicario have priced Inter out of the move.
Yann Sommer will not sign a new contract at San Siro, with his current deal set to expire in June.
Therefore, the Nerazzurri are scouring the market for a new goalkeeper.
Meanwhile, Guglielmo Vicario has emerged as Piero Ausilio’s top target, but Spurs’ €30 million asking price is out of Inter’s reach.
Even though the 29-year-old is keen to join the Nerazzurri, the transfer seems unlikely to materialize.
Inter Milan Turn to Liverpool Star Alisson as Guglielmo Vicario Out of Reach
Despite being 33, Alisson Becker remains one of the best goalkeepers in Europe’s top-five leagues.
However, it’s worth noting that the Reds recently exercised a renewal clause in his contract.
As such, they’ve tied the Brazilian down to Anfield until 2027.
Still, it won’t deter Inter from approaching the former Roma shot-stopper at the end of the season.
Indeed, Inter cannot afford Vicario’s price tag. The same applies to Atalanta stalwart Marco Carnesecchi.
Both Italian keepers command hefty price tags, forcing the Nerazzurri to rekindle their interest in Alisson.
If €30m is too much for other goalkeepers, what makes them think they can afford Allison?
I do t particularly want vicario BUT how the F is 30m out of reach for a team reaching 2 UCL finals in 3 years, club World Cup team, and one of the most marketable sides in Europe?!?
I get we were in debt – as is everybody, and I want us to be sensible and sustainable and move to a balance between youth and transfers.
BUT if you spend 50-60m on useless nonsense like Bonny, Diouf & Henrique and then say you can’t afford 30m for a planned long term number 1 – it stinks of mis-management.
I’d like to think it’s just more BS media rubbish however it’s likely not far from the truth.
Ngl the guys commenting here are mental. all three of the guys you highlighted are really young and talented. it’s their first year and diouf and bonny are doing fine for their first year. the point you are missing is that they probably don’t value vicario that high. and rightly so as you yourself alluded to.
