Inter Milan and Carlos Augusto have hit a sticking point in contract renewal talks, with Roma now circling as they look to exploit the impasse and land the Brazil defender this summer.
According to Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, a gap has emerged between Carlos Augusto and Inter over his renewal, despite his contract running until 2028.
The club do not consider him either a player they want to sell or one they will hold at all costs, but bridging the current difference in expectations has proven difficult.
Roma have a budget of €15-16 million for the role.
Inter, however, value the defender‘s transfer fee at a minimum of €20 million.
It is a gap that makes a straightforward deal unlikely at this stage.
Roma Manu Kone Link Could Unlock Move For Inter Man Carlos Augusto
The Manu Koné pursuit adds a fascinating dimension to the situation.
Inter want the Roma midfielder, and Roma need to raise funds before June 30th.
Indeed, to comply with financial fair play regulations.
Carlos Augusto‘s potential departure could help facilitate that.
“Inter have no intention of being pushed around,” Corriere write.
The price could rise above the €35 million figure discussed a few months ago, but not dramatically so.
Technically, the two operations would be treated as separate deals.
Koné’s move to Inter would need to close before June 30th, with Carlos Augusto’s transfer to Rome finalised in July.
The pieces are on the board. Finding the right arrangement remains the challenge.

It’s a shame we keep players like bisseck who can’t defend and we throw Carlos who can defend and can play as a left back…
The managment is so bad
Mr robi this is just a media speculation….not genuinely from the management….so no need starting to worry about
Carlos is a strong squad player. I would hate to see him go.
so upon everything Bisseck has done this season is that how ungrateful you are as a supporter smh some of you are also the problem too
