Massimiliano Allegri has offered a gracious public tribute to Cristian Chivu and Inter Milan ahead of the Scudetto being mathematically decided, while sending a clear warning that AC Milan intend to be a very different proposition next season.
The Milan head coach spoke at his pre-match press conference ahead of the trip to Verona, and his words on Inter were generous and measured.
“I have to congratulate Chivu who has done an excellent job and is close to the objective,” Allegri said, via FCInter1908.
“Winning the Scudetto in his first year I think is a great satisfaction.”
He was also careful to note context around Chivu’s comments from last week.
“One would have to see in what context he said it, but he deserves only compliments.”
Allegri Insists Milan Must Raise The Level As Champions League Return Targeted After Inter & Chivu Set For Scudetto
On the broader competitive picture, Allegri was candid and forward-looking.
“It is normal that Inter had the Scudetto as their objective. They lost it by a point last year and have been fighting for the title for six years,” he said.
“If we manage to enter the Champions League, next year we will have to raise the bar.”
He also placed Milan’s current campaign in honest perspective.
“If you are a club that has been structured for many years it does not take much to say you are fighting for the Scudetto.
“But I think returning to Champions League football this year is a good result. Then year after year you must raise the level.”
Big contrast of this season. Inter scored 30 more goals than Milan, but scored 0 goals against them.
But, scored 3 goals against Napoli.
And, for first time in history, team who lost both Milan derbies will win Scudetto.
I think Milan will fall short next season if they stick with him. In the CL it takes a lot from players and Napoli are a good example if you have old injury prone players
Inter still need a couple of real creative skillfully players who can dribble past to create space and who can hold a ball under pressure
conte-napoli, chivu-inter, spalletti-juve, allegri-milan, all scrapes sides..yet when this players are bought by Psg or bayern, they perform wonders..what could be wrong..seria a should know that a league looses it’s appeal when on the big stage you fail to perform..only to give press interview on how your opponents are well funded..yet lower budget sides like athletico, dortmund, spurs, sporting, Villa, leverkusen, gala, benfica still manage to atleast compete..imagine fiorentina couldn’t compete with Crystal Palace..
it gives me no joy..seria a ia at a very low level, I don’t even watch the matches again..the teams are poor mentally in europe, it’s not about finances..coaches are too tactical, yet always beaten..chivu praises arsenal as best in the world, yet man utd with a squad level lower than inter beats arsenal 3 days later..Aston Villa beats bologna 7-1, yet French sides with lower budget was able to fight..you guys are a disgrace to yourselves..shame on seria a
I think you had too much milk my boy. Time to hit the pillow
You did a whole bunch of yapping without saying anything significant. You don’t sound like a problem solver; you sound like a complainer. And if your relationship is just as you presented yourself here, it means you preserve most of the feminine qualities in it.
i wonder where are the cu.nte worshipers gone? first criticized inzaghi, now chivu.. hope you are all eating humble pie!! Forza Inter.. we do not have great players, we have a great team.. all 11 ready to sacrifice for each other without the ego! the rest of serie a can continue pampering their primadonnas
The players are why they win the Scudetto, not Chivu. any manager would have won it with inter this season.
And if Inter finished 6th this season I’m sure you’d have the same opinion that managers make no difference.,,,
Nope…. Have you seen the way Conte and Allegri plays. Chivu isn’t perfect but he’s trying to adapt modern football and not defend and hope for the best approach that failed consistently in big competitions.
Interesting read! Its good to see Allegri acknowledging Chivus achievement while setting high expectations for Milan. The contrast between the two Milan clubs this season is fascinating to watch. grow a garden calculator
