Inter Milan goalkeeper Josep Martinez was exceptional in his third consecutive Serie A star, helping the Nerazzurri beat Como in the semi-finals.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, the Spanish star emerged as the Nerazzurri’s unsung hero at San Siro.
Cristian Chivu’s side engineered another remarkable comeback against Como.
Indeed, less than two weeks after turning a 2-0 deficit into a 4-3 win at the Sinigaglia Stadium, they came from behind to beat Cesc Fabregas’ side.
Despite falling two goals behind in the opening 50 minutes, the runaway Serie A leaders eked out a 3-2 victory to reach the grand final.
Josep Martinez Emerges as Inter Milan Unsung Hero vs Como
Although Hakan Calhanoglu stole the spotlight with a match-winning performance, the 27-year-old’s contribution was equally decisive.
Josep Martinez may have failed to keep a clean sheet, but his heroics between the sticks kept Inter the game until the end.
For starters, he pulled off a miraculous save to deny Assane Diao only a minute after Calhanoglu’s first goal.
Moreover, he came up huge in the second-half stoppage time, thwarting Maxime Caqueret’s close-range attempt.
With this type of performance, it’s hard to put it past the former Genoa star to succeed Yann Sommer next season.
you are a wizard the way you read my mind. I hope the Vicario rumour is fake or someone would be able to explain to me how it makes sense to let go someone better than Vicario and spend 25 millions plus to buy Vicario whereas we are desperate in defense, midfield and sort of attack as well and at the same time claim we don’t have enough money. please someone make that make sense…
Someone at inter is trying to make money bring in vicario.. I don’t see how vicario is better than Martinez.. the money they plan to use in buying vicario can buy a good center back or defensive midfielder.
