Pisa have decided against triggering their €7.5 million purchase option for midfielder Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, with Inter Milan now moving to sell the Nigerian outright and targeting a fee in the region of €10 million amid concrete interest from the Bundesliga and Premier League.

Gianluca Di Marzio confirmed the development via Sky Sport Italia, reporting that the Lega Serie A rejected Pisa’s redemption paperwork after deeming the club’s financial guarantees insufficient during the documentation phase – a bureaucratic breakdown that has effectively turned a concluded deal into an open auction.

The loan had been structured with Pisa holding a €7.5m option and Inter retaining a buy-back clause reported at between €8–8.5 million, designed to give the Nerazzurri a future re-purchase route. That framework is now redundant. Akinsanmiro returns to Inter having made 24 Serie A appearances for Pisa and registering one assist – modest numbers, though sufficient to generate serious foreign enquiry.

Bundesliga and Premier League Clubs Circle Akinsanmiro

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Werder Bremen and Borussia Mönchengladbach are the two named Bundesliga clubs with formal interest, while Bologna represent the most credible Serie A option. At least one Premier League club is also monitoring the situation, though they remain unnamed in current reporting.

Inter are relaxed. The collapsed €7.5m deal has simply been reframed internally as an opportunity to extract greater value, and the club’s directors are now assessing permanent offers rather than considering another loan. The approach mirrors how the Nerazzurri have handled other returning midfielders this summer – Filip Stankovic is similarly being pushed toward a permanent exit after his loan return, with foreign interest again driving the market.

Whether Inter insist on retaining a resale clause in any Akinsanmiro deal will be a key negotiating point given the club’s broader strategy around young assets, as demonstrated by their recent buyback and resale activity across the squad. A decision is expected early in the summer window.
