Against Torino, Inter’s Dutch defender Stefan De Vrij confirmed his good instincts when being in front of the oppositions goal during set pieces and corners.

Turin based newspaper Tuttosport highlights Inter’s threat in set pieces in todays paper stating that this “A quality that most likely will make Inter a battleship on set pieces, especially considering that Inter during last season was the second best team after Juventus with 19 goals scored against Juventus’ 21.”

According to the report: “De Vrij adds further quality to a defense that already is part of the new Inter, Skriniar for example scored four times against Crotone, Sampdoria, Chievo and Benevento last season. The Slovakian defender has shown his good qualities in the box but has also a dangerous shot from the outside. But also Danilo D’Ambrosio has made important contributions, first the goal against Genoa on September 24th and then of course in the last game of the season against Lazio, a game that led Inter to this year’s Champions League.

“So the three defenders chosen by Spalletti against Torino have scored 12 goals during the 2017/2018 season, a figure that some attackers are having trouble to reach. So Spalletti can on set pieces count on his trident in defense. De Vrij, Skriniar and D’Ambrosio could be incredibly important during closed games when the attackers are having trouble finding opportunities, and do not forget about Ranocchia and Miranda, two other players who can be dangerous in the opponents area” Tuttosport concludes.
