Inter are to take a softer approach to Mauro Icardi’s contract renewal with the club following the past week according to a report from Corriere dello Sport.

Instead of having a tough attitude, Inter management is currently trying to find out the cards that his wife/agent Wanda Icardi is sitting on, meaning what kind of offers she has received and if Inter can match the demands made by her which is believed to be somewhere between €8-9 million per year as a base salary.

Inter CEO Beppe Marotta and sporting director Ausilio will however make it clear that Inter can not go beyond a certain point of €7-7.5 million.

If these positions were to be confirmed, there is still some distance between the two parties involved but the common will is to continue the relationship between Inter and Icardi.

The Nerazzurri management are convinced that if a point of agreement should be reached at the next meeting, it would still take many more meetings in order for the renewal to be signed.
