President Erick Thohir spoke to inter.it:
“After the close of the January transfer window and the game in Turin, I feel it is appropriate for me to outline our sports strategy. We are going through a transition year and our main aim is to lay the foundations for our future: this is a difficult season and clearly it is not easy to find another winning combination like the one we had a few years ago. This is why we must be patient and move forward with a clear vision focusing on two basic concepts: how to improve our performance on the pitch and how to build our team for the future. To achieve the first target we have hired one of the best Italian coaches in circulation, Walter Mazzarri, with whom we are working for the present and planning for the future. The signings of Hernanes and D’Ambrosio – chosen by myself, our management and the coach in unison – are indicative in that sense: two key players who can help this club get going again. They will undoubtedly contribute greatly both this year and in the coming seasons. Regarding the future it’s important to stress that we have not yet taken any decisions about the players who currently make up our roster: the coach’s assessment at the end of the Serie A season will be decisive in that respect. I will sit down and discuss with him which players possess the necessary qualities and motivation to remain with us, and which players are to make way for new faces. Of course this is not forgetting that we would all like to return to the European stage as soon as possible, and with our fans’ support and passion we will start fighting again, from this Sunday, to achieve the best possible result this season. Forza Inter!”

if I was an Inter fan I would write this season off, pack it up and refuse to watch any of their games (unless you suffer from Insomnia because Inter soccer will definitely put you to sleep) just face it – do you really think that inter will be in CL in years to come? look at teams like juve/roma/Napoli/fiorentina……………..how can you honestly look at inter’s starting lineup and say to yourself “inter can definitely beat these teams because we have better quality” This team sucks!! you need Jean-Claude Blanc to continue the work that Marco Branca has started for this team so that we can ensure that inter will be in 15th place fighting with Livorno and Catania to avoid relegation.
mazzari has not a champion mentality, he has never won any titles, he is for small teams. if inter wants to be big, inter needs big players, big coach, big management.
big coach is what is missing.
OHh and you have won so many title and now so much about winner mentality 😀
Shut up Chino, every time somebody expresses their opinion on Mazzarri you have something cocky or stupid to say.
Mancini didn’t win any titles either before he came to Inter. Every manager in the world didn’t win any titles until they did.
I prefer playing with 4 defenders than 3. 3-5-2 never works against the team who use 4-3-3 like when Roma crushed us. It only work if we have strong players to defending and attacking like Juve with their Lichtsteiner and Asamoah. We just use attacking-minded fullback like Nagatomo and Jonathan. They can’t mark opponent wingers and always late to defend their area.
I also don’t like how we just use 1 striker when we got 5 midfielder in the same line. The support range is too long. This formation make Palacio play too hard. I suggest 4-2-3-1 / 4-3-2-1 / 4-3-1-2.
I’m loving it! Forza Inter
If I was coach I would play this formation
Handa
Nagatomo-Campa-JJ-Zanetti
Guarin
Taider-Kovacic
Hernanes
Botta Palacio
Guarin’s main strength is his strength, He has shown to be very inconsistent going forward but as a destroyer and ball winner he is one of the best tacklers in the league. He brings a level of physicality that we missed so badly against Juve. We needed him to dominate Pirlo from start to finish and then let the more creative kovacic and hernanes work their magic. I cant Mazzari is sticking with the same tactics that have got us into this terrible position.
Fuck you, your transition year and your coach!
What the hell,fucktoyou
I enjoyed the words given by Thohir in this interview, I’m pretty sure that we can be back soon and again being a frightening team in serie a, i keep dreaming then
Good words! I believe that we will be strong within a year. Mazzarri is one of the best coaches and we will move forward with him. Just give him the players he wants. Not Wallace or another lost case.
Gave him the players he needs? Of course why not, but how about utilizing the players he has a “little” bit more too? He has two of european golden kids in Olsen and Kovacic and where are they ended right now? Almost like a thrash i must say. If only he has more guts and not being stubborn maybe Inter won’t be as bad as today. But what can i say, its Mazzari after all, since his days in Naples he never trusted too young players (21 and under) if i were Olsen I’ll ask the coach to loan me abroad or even put me back in primavera so i can play and didn’t get rotten on the bench.
Not only Olsen and Kovacic.Look Belfodil and Andreoli they does not have a chance to prove themselves or to fail.Icardi rumored too for a deal with Monaco.
Kovacic has already shown he has great potential, but so far that’s all he’s shown: potential. He needs to improve on the physical aspects of his game, like toughness and getting back to help on defense. He also needs to develop into the team more, right now he’s still learning which move the right move to make is.
I like Thoir, he seems that he is really planning stuff for the future.
He stopped the Guarin-Vucinc deal, and then he arrived in milano and signed this two players.
I think it would be another 2 or 3 years before we start seeing light again but Inter it’s been doing things the wrong way for a many years now.
We need a model can be self sustainable and Thoir wants that so lets be calm and wait.
Nice to see Thohir taking responsability, setting a course and supporting Mazzarri. It’s exactly this kind of openness and clear ideas, that we need. Let’s hope Thohir keeps his words and leads Inter with clarity and patience. Forza Inter
My own suggestion is this as a fan
Handanovic
D’ambrosio Campagnaro Juan Jesus
Taider
Harnaness Guarin
Botta Alvarez
Kovacic
Palacio
Am sure this will give results, we have to forget about starting these following players Zanetti,Cambiasso, Milito,Rolando, Ranocchia,Jonathan, Nagatomo and Mazzari favourite Kuzmanovic.Just risk this for one match and compare it with the one you using after the match.FORZA INTER.
I absolutely hate the 3 man defense system. DOES NOT work unless you have ‘quality’ or ‘BEST’ defenders and extremely good wingbacks. It is a complete failure !
I suggest:
4-2-3-1
4-1-2-1-2
4-3-3
Or standard 4-4-2
Agree!
Agree, 4-2-3-1 or standard 4-4-2 with 2 advanced wingers and 2 holding midfielders would be the best formations.
To iblec: D’ambrosio under no circumstances should play as a outside defender in a 3-man system.
To interista1: I think it would be intriguing to see Guarin deployed as a winger, since that is where he began his career. He certainly has the stamina, and his inability to pass would not harm of as much in this position. Furthermore, he has shown the ability to cross, dribble defenders, and cut in and shoot.
*an outside
**harm us
how can you be sure about that ? are you a coach or something ?
I didn’t expect anything this season,
Mazzarri is great coach! and we only shoot ourselves
If inter fire him. This year is year 0 that was
The plan, and we destroy next season with new striker and defenders.
I believe in Thohir and Mazzarri.
Nothing can be don 1, 2, 3.
Everything takes time
I don’t think with this man WM things will turn positive, always the same tactics and all the serie a coaches know his weakness. FORZA INTER.
He used the same tactics in Naples and finished second. Things will turn around for us soon. Forza Inter.
He had a completely different team in Napoli. Things will get better once he’s out the door!
he also had a different teams than napooli in sampdoria and in reggina.
If we just play like the begining of the season we will finish 4-5 place and now when we have a creative player like Hernanes maybe others will wake up and play better…….
Handanovic
campa-rolando-rano
D’ambrosio-taider-Kovacic – Guarin
Hernanes
botta-Palacio
Juan over Rano and Ricky over kova the rest I like!
With team performance like this,it will be very difficult,if not impossible,to reach european spot,i wonder how if inter doesnt qualify any of european championship next season,mr.president?
