In an interview in today’s Tuttosport, Inter legend Gabriele Oriali once again announced his candidacy for a role as director at Inter.
Why is Oriali still so loved by the fans?
“I’ve been wondering that too… (laughs Ed.). I think it ‘s because I’ve done something good, first as a player, during seventeen years from the youth sector; then as director for another thirteen. I think that’s why most of Inter’s fans would like to see my return to the club.”
If Thohir would ask you, would you accept?
“After thirty years, Inter has become my second family. So if there would be a call from Thohir I would be more than happy to accept. Otherwise, I will continue to be a supporter.”
Which was your most difficult negotiation?
“The one with Juventus for Ibrahimovic. They knew they had to sell him, not least because of the player’s desire, but AC Milan was also in the picture. I went to Turin with Branca, it was with Blanc we reached an agreement on a transfer for Ibrahimovic and I stayed until eleven at night before we signed it. Two strenuous days, with pressure from AC Milan, who wanted him at any price.”
A signing to remember?
“Cambiasso for free: Branca and I were initially criticized because he didn’t play at Real. And then Maicon: we saw him for the first time with Mancini and we fell instantly in love.”
A flop?
“When you work, you can also make mistakes: it happened to us and, for example, even Juventus three or four years ago. Then, both they and we have been good at learning from mistakes because we focused more on quality than quantity. But Juve is already, since a few years, the team to beat and will be also for the next, just as we were for years.”
Why, in your opinion, is that?
“Because they have advantages in that they own their stadium, they have innovative ideas, skilled owners and managers in the selection of players and because they have a coach, who right now is the best in our league.”
What is missing for Inter to reach Juventus?
“This year, a historic chapter for the club has ended and during such a season it is obvious that the team suffers a little psychologically from a change in ownership. It’s not by accident that, after a beginning in which good football was played, there has been a decline, not only physically but also mentally and perhaps unconsciously. Now they’re recovering, but the gap to Juventus is there and to fill it requires work, patience, and time.”
Does Ausilio have broad enough shoulders to be responsible for the technical area?
“The experience of conducting negotiations, he got already with me and Branca, moreover, he is well acquainted with the youth sector and is an expert in international football, so it’s a choice that makes sense. However, I think that a big club like Inter maybe should have someone within the club that he can consult daily. If that person is an Interista it would be even better.”
What was it that went wrong between you and Branca?
“Our relationship deteriorated in the last year because we had different ideas, but before that we did very well. The results prove it. After the treble the club made a decision that I obviously did not share, but which I accepted with sadness because I thought I had deserved to continue in my role, given what happened on the pitch. That wasn’t the case, so our roads split. And it has continued to be bad.”
What advice would you give to Zanetti, who is at a crossroads in his life?
“I’m convinced that his idea would be to continue for another year. He is a symbol, and for several reasons, he can also be good to have in the dressing room. The advice I can give him is to follow his instincts.”
Does the captain have a resume to take up Facchetti’s heritage or is it better that he pays his dues elsewhere?
“I have nothing against Zanetti, who I have a great admiration for, but there will only be one like Facchetti, unique and inimitable. I do, however, miss a person who is perceived as a true Interista within the club, who can act as an interlocutor between the club, the technical area, and the coach and who is recognized as a human image of Inter.”
Here, say something Interista. Inter without a penalty for 28 rounds, where is the error?
“The error? Of these mistakes, there have been seven or eight that have been blatant, they are unthinkable omissions which have punished Inter in the table. It seems almost like a syndrome not to give a penalty, although I do however think that the referees are acting in good faith.”
Does Icardi remind you a little about Balotelli in the beginning?
“I don’t know and I think it is difficult to make comparisons. But I know he’s strong, young, has prospects, is strong physically, and technically good. Inter has made a good purchase because Icardi is the future.”
Is Mazzarri the right man for this transition period?
“Well, a transition period during which they at least must have the goal of qualifying for the Europa League. But I think Mazzarri is the right coach, not only for this transition period.”
What type of match will it be against Ventura?
“Ventura doing big things in Turin. His team plays well, entertaining, and has a good position in the table. Inter must make sure not to give space to Cerci and Immobile because they are lethal when they have open spaces. Nevertheless, this will be a match for Inter to win.”
Can Inter afford to focus on the young players?
“They need to focus on the right mix of talent and experienced players, as they have done with the signing of Vidic from Manchester United. He has international experience and can be a reference point for young players.”

@ehsan: Unfortunately you do not have a dick at all. What you may have is a rotten vagina, full of worms and dirt. Lick and suck your dirty vagina like your bitchy mommy used to do the same shit before her death. FUCK OFF
@Axel
Just be more gentle toward my dick! ok?! what’s up between you two? of course you can play with it but not violently cuz it has a tenuous skin as you and your demanding mom know!
Hey Axel, here are the youngsters used by Mourinho:
– Balotelli (initially given his chance by Mancini)
– Santon
– Mariga (who was 23 at the time)
– Arnautovic (who played a total of like 90 minutes all season long)
Before you start criticizing the coach about not playing youth, take time to realize that playing inexperienced youth is BAD coaching. Most young players don’t yet have the mentality, or professionalism to act as a cohesive unit, too many egos, too many people still honing their skills.
Just look at Arsenal over the past 6-7 years to see what a club that’s mostly youth players looks like on the pitch. What have they won since 2004? Nothing.
John smith, I do not need to talk about Arsenal. The point is Arsenal has been well maintaining their stability, but Inter could not! I dont mean that Inter must use XI youngsters. What I said is right balance and combination between youth and experience is essential to develop long-term Inter. But current management and coach are unlikely to do that. I lost my hope and faith. Why? Because they signed Vidic, they may sign Evra, Sagna – already finished players in top clubs. They are willing to offer young Italian talents to other clubs cheaply and looking for crappys again and again. Is this a right and sustainable policy? You do not need to agree with me because I do not know you and you do not know me. If you have time, go back to inter history since 1990 and keys for their success in terms of maintaining a right balance between youth and experienced players and hope you understand what I mean then.
I do not know you Axel, but i do agree in everything you have said here!
And @john smith, as Axel said you don’t have to play XI u20 players, but as this is a transition season thats is when you transits (as in the name) and let the younger players play more so they can integrate into the team..
vidic only 31/32. he had at least another two ahead of him. look at samuel at his 34. serie a is not as fast as premier league. as long as he can maintain his fitness, he’ll be fine here. i had my doubts about evra but sagna is a good one. he is still a first choice at arsenal and even wenger actually wanted him to stay another season. how can you say he is a finished player? you really are just bullshit talk without knowing anything. now that branca is gone and thohir knows how important to have talented players of our own club he wouldn’t treat the young players as they previously did. and you are the one who should be looking back at our history. we were a laughing stock at league in the 90’s and that was because we had no stability. “The point is Arsenal has been well maintaining their stability” and they did because wenger are still there and giving them the stability that they needed. they will just be a shit club if they change their coach every time they failed. so your talking crap and shit without knowing anything
You have absolutely NO idea shit! OK, keep dreaming to be happy with your fucking Thohir, Mazza, Vidic, Sagna, probably Evra and other monkeys… i will laugh at you then! Disgrace!
bla bla bla. just another whiner who whining about things he thinks he knows even though everyone can see how stupid the whiner kid is actually
Thoroughly agree with you
You clown always wishes to find your gay-partner, huh? hahaha. Just suck your tiny dick and pussy, sucker!
Right balance between youth and experience? Yes, it is essential to build completely a new team, but what’s going on at Inter? Mazzarri enforces to sit Ranocchia (88), D’Ambrosio (88), Kovacic (94), Taider (92), Icardi (93) and Botta (90) on the bench and he does not want to use Primavera talents like Bardi, Bianchetti, MBaye, Duncan, Benassi, Crisetig, Romano, Bessa, Longo, Tassi and many more. On the other hand, Mazzarri does not want to play Il Grande Capitano Javier Zanetti. Zanetti is the Inter. He is the heart, spirit, sympol and air of Internazionale. When he plays, other 10 have full of energy, motivation and desire to win! But this Mazzarri shit assumes our captain as a bench-warmer and prefers asshole Jonathan over Zanetti and D’Ambrosio and no victories and no results for ages!!!!!
Is this an indication of building a new team based on young talents and essential experience, Oriali? If I ever meet Mazzarri, I am ready to make him a handicapped person. He thinks Inter-supporters as a blind, stupid and weak losers! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! 26 games, only 41 points! This means equivalent to 13 wins, 2 draws and 11 defeats! No trophy for this year, no rapid transition for this year. A waste of a whole year! FUCK you Thohir, FUCK you Mazzarri. Thohir, don’t you remember what you said? You said that Inter academy is the best in Europe and you want to make this academy as the best in the World! But look what you are doing? Your words are 180 degrees different than your stupid-actions. I want the day these idiots leave Internazionale. I miss the day when a new investor acquires this historic club. I miss the day Mourinho comes to Inter and make this club as the best in the world again. Oh no, Inter does not deserve to become a crap club!!!!! It deserves to be the best in Europe and the World! INTERNAZIONALE PER SEMPRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
okay, i read enough about your bullshit now. ranocchia : he had his chances at the start of the season and he did well but then he declined and rolando takes his chances well. d’ambrosio : i don’t really know why wm hasn’t been playing him, but i’m guessing it’s between his fitness or he hasn’t been that great in the training field. kovacic : he also had his chances but he totally declined than his form this year than last year. what do you expect of him? he should be our sneijder on an instant and carry the whole group on his shoulder? taider, the same case, he had his chance, then he declined and another player took their chance. icardi : he had his first starter against roma. he is one of the prove that mazzarri rewards the player a chance on field when he is fit enough, good enough, or in form. for botta : he had bad injury, it would takes some time for him to adapt and develop his fitness. and all your blabbering about our primavera is also a shit. no other coach in inter would give them play time. it’s a good choice to let them play at another club on loan. and face the fact!!! zanetti even though he is zanetti but he is still a human. that terrible injury and his age had it’s effect on him. and you’re contradicting what you said earlier about using young players. for ages? we had a good run in about first half of the season WITH THE SAME PEOPLE. oriali, as also thohir, is right, we need the mix of talents and experience not just a bunch of young players. and for wm, it’s not about the age of the players, not about how old neither how young you are. as long as you can perform, do what you were asked for and shown it both on training field and on the match field, as simple as that. that’s how a real coach do their job. you’re just bullshitting over and over. inter supporters aren’t blind or stupid or losers, but you are.
Blah blah blah blah, Indonesian bastardo! Did you say our primavera is a shit? You will regret by saying that loser. I wish you to be happy to see your boring, non creative, fucking football by Mazzarri and his monkeys like Kuzmanovic, Jonathan… Only natural losers like you watch this. Get fucked loser dickhead!
hahaha a stupid whining racist little kid. no wonder. just go to your mom and whine about why she even bother to born you okay hahaha 😀
Hahaha, just go to your mom and see how she is raped? hahaha
Well well, someone being racist here, you’re saying that the country of our owner bastard? LOLLL you really are a pathetic loser, i dont know that racist people still exist in these days. You should just get lost of this site for the sake of everyone.
hahaha, racism exists everywhere? don’t you know that? You indonesian fuckers only not blaming your loser thohir’s nonsense bullshit actions. I blame him and his boyfriend mazza. Nobody can stop me. If they do the right thing, of course I won’t blame them. But those small brains are unlikely to do that. Am I racist? How do you know that? You do not know nothing about racism, okay? You cannot even know the meaning of it and true identity behind it even you graduate a college. And you say me a racist? How pity your are?
Who says im indonesian? Do you love indonesia that much? Or you yourself are an indonesian? Wow thats shocking. LOLLLL
Well, even the football rules are saying no to racism but you’re agree with that? HA HA HA, saying that you are a football lover yet you being racist, well, another hypocrite show by a loser maniac. Ciao loser.
Talking about investor again? Psg is available, so does city, such a crybaby LOLLLL
Die with your proposed psg or city. How pity shit your are? You do not know a single word about investment? Get the fuck off with your poor thohir sucker!
