Argentina's Messi and Zanetti leave the field after their team lost 3-1 against Brazil in a WC 2010 qualifying soccer match in Rosario
There was a long interview with Javier Zanetti, now in Brazil following the national team, in the newspaper La Manana de Cordoba. The former Inter captain spoke of Alejandro Sabella, coach of the Argentine national team: “I believe that this team is growing, but I think every game is somewhat similar. We have very good strikers, most of all Lionel Messi, who receives so much criticism but he is the number one in the world, and for this reason he is marked tight, always at the edge of a foul. If they will go far? I hope so, and we also hope to win the World Cup. We must understand that Messi always will be marked hard, as Iran did. And it is logical that it happens, because he is the number one in the world. Fortunately, he always manages to find his play.”

When asked if Zanetti thinks he will be working for the Argentine Football Association, he replies: “Hopefully, if the conditions are right it would be a pleasure. But now I’m at Inter.”
