Rumors about what seems to be the Thohir’s project for San Siro were in today’s online edition of the Corriere della Sera. Should Milan go ahead with the stadium plans (talks about a stadium in the Fiera area of Milan) then San Siro would become Inter’s.
“The Inter stadium project was present in the file presented to Uefa regarding the plans for the club’s five year economic recovery plan. The plan seems to be orientated towards restructuring San Siro and make it a stadium with no more than 50 000 seats, modern and in line with the new standards set by other European clubs. The plan would be to change the third ring into restaurants and shops.”
The start is tied to the Champions League final in 2016 which will be played at the Giuseppe Meazza and this has been seen as the perfect moment to start working “unless the project runs aground due to a lack of funding.” Thohir has been suggested that he rebuilds the racecourse (horses) next to the Meazza into football training grounds for the first team and eventually house the main office for the club there just as they do in England. There are a lot ideas and time will tell which ones will be realized. There is also the question if there is a possibility to have two stadiums in the same city”, writes Fabio Monti.

Sorry but 50k isn’t enough we need anything between 65k and 80k
This really doesn’t help all that much unless Inter owns the stadium. They’ll still be paying the city a good chunk of money, which should be going into Inter’s pocket instead.
what is the difference in building your own stadium vs. buying GM? i would guess each has its certain benefits, but is it better to keep the old place rather than build a new and modern stadium? can someone enlighten me about this, i really struggle to understand why inter should not build a new stadium..
Yes, please! We can make GM far better.
why not make it 60k seats? with 50k seats we wont be able to host the CL final again.
I take this news with a pinch of salt.
Will pay attention again if the construction really start.
i like the idea but doubt it’s feasible since in that case, we first have to buy a stadium from the city and then go for a modernisation… i belive it’s waaaay to expensive
Nice plan, I like it. Owning our own stadium is critical if we want to get back to the top of Europe again. We need the extra revenue.
Hopefully the city of Milan wil cooperate as well (because until now, they have always been a bitch). Makes sense though, their stadium revenues will be 50% lower when Bilan moves out.
Not sure what the odds are of getting full ownership of GM, but it does sound like a sweet idea. And Thohir seems to think it’s possible.
I wonder if they can somehow bring the stands closer to the field itself, like it is in England and like Juventus did with their new stadium in order to bring the players and the experience itself closer to the fans in the front seats.
I like the idea of staying at Meazza and claiming it as our own, though. The entire area around it can be made all about Inter and football.
