After the rumours of the last few days reguarding Erick Thohir’s business ways the president himself released an official statement on Inter’s website:
“Dear Inter Fans,
In the last few days misleading and inaccurate information has circulated about the way my Group runs its business, and about my will to keep on supporting Inter in the future.
If somebody thinks that this kind of story will distract us from achieving important results for Inter, then they are wrong.
My group has businesses worldwide and I have invested in Italy in the same way as I did successfully in the US and other countries.
It is my duty and, more importantly, my will as shareholder, to invest in Inter. This is what we have been doing since Day 1 and what we will keep on doing for the years ahead, ensuring capital and management.
We will continue to work towards strengthening the solidity of the Club and ensuring that Roberto Mancini can have the highest quality and most competitive team on the pitch, and giving better performances for you, Inter fans, all around the world.”

Football nowadays cannot be seen as sport only. It gives different perspectives for different different people. We as football fans, see football as sport and passion, we love certain club and emotionally attached. While for businessmen, it means a lot, football are commodities, they can buy a football club due to economic reason not for the sake of their love to the club. It can also become a great way for money laundry. Betting and match fixing are familiar with football now. It is possible that one football club lose in the match due to match fixing. The owners of losing clubs can bet against their teams. The club lose, on the other hand the owners gain. FIFA officials are arrested for corruption scandal. It means football bring fortunes.
When Erick Thohir acquired Inter, he mentioned Nicola Ventola as his favorite Inter player. With all due respect to Ventola, it seems strange for an owner to favor a player who did not make any impact in Inter during his term. Ventola was a fringe player and being loaned out to a provincial club like Atalanta. Erick Thohir is like a new president who wants to impress everyone by being different in mentioning Nicola Ventola. Erick thohir looks like a student who is cramming. A student who studies last minute during exam. I doubt him for this reason.
Inter actually have a competent squad to fight for champions league spot this season. They lose points due to awful defends. Ranocchia, Vidic even Juan Jesus now are the scapegoats. I remembered Cannavaro was an Inter player who was also jeered by fans. He went to Juventus in exchanged with Carini and the rest was history. What if Ranocchia, Vidic, and Juan Jesus sold to Juventus or AC Milan next season, will he become another Cannavaro or Pirlo? I really hope that this poor season is caused by “Football matter” not part of a complex betting or other scandals.
With all due respect, Mr Erick, if you don’t have the passion and resources to bring Inter to glory, just sell it to some middle east royals. I prefer to see Inter as their toy of ego instead of Inter as commodities.
This is the reason why I’m optimistic with Thohir’s regime. There is transparency in his management, he applied new management models, compare to Moratti’s regime with old management models. I am not saying that Moratti’s regime is wrong. His model relevant in his era, but nowadays the new management models applied in almost every organization from football club till state. Even there is a pressure to put the same tenet in Fifa Congress.
What I am trying to say, it is not easy to change things in a blink of eye. There are reasons why we have a difficulties to launch again:
1. We haven’t meet the stability yet because basically Thohir’s first coach is Mancini (in my opinion). When he bought Inter, Mazzari already been there and been chosen by Moratti’s. For the sake of stability, Thohir stick with Mazzari and the result is not come yet.
The same thing happened with Mancini. To be honest, his current squad is build to support Mazzari’s schema, not Mancini. He will find the player that he need in this summer. The same logic in Benitez’s regime, the squad is build for Mourinho and the capability of the member is at the end of the tunnel. So, we cannot changed the coach regularly and as supporters we should also realize that stability need time and good foundation. Unfortunately, the foundation is shaky.
2. Re-structuring the income. The stadium in Italy is not always full with the attendances, which maybe cause by difficult economy time. As I know, there is a plan to make an inter shop in China and Indonesia as the first and third biggest Inter supporter in Asia. The open interaction approach by management is a good way to make the supporter close to the club.
3. Youth squad injection. When I heard that Vidic will come to Inter, I said “well, okay, hope he can influence his winning attitude”. Well, as we know, Vidic is one of the player that struggle to adapt. The same thing with Podolski, he is a world cup champions. Meanwhile, Inter management seems rely on the the youth as the foundation of new Inter. Starts from Icardi (22), Kovacic (21), Juan (23), Shaqiri (23). Also there will be more to come, such as Murillo (22), Ondrej Duda (20), Ante Coric (18). They have a big potential and they need time.
Overall, I think the key for further Inter success is on stability, time, patience, managing expectation, and trust! Can’t wait to see what will happen in Summer!
We believe in you . Forza inter
http://gianlucadimarzio.com/en/calciomercato/inter-continues-to-pursue-kondogbia-as-an-alternative-to-toure/
He would be the best alternative to Toure.
I don’t know how feasible that is given the fact that he would be even more expensive than Yaya.
i don’t think he would go to inter . mancini might talk him into coming but i’m having a hard time imagining what kind of system he’s planing to use . we’ve heard rumors about winger second strikers, box strikers and all kinds of role …. i remember mancini saying that the system next season will all depend on what ausilio buys
15mln + 4×8.5(salary+bonuses)=49mln for toure then free transfer…30mln + 4×4= 46mln for kondogbia and we can always sell him for 25 mln if he fails
If monaco decide to sell him, he will be availabe not less than 35m 🙁 too fancy for us.
If this is true then I’m not exactly sure why Toure isn’t at Inter. From what I’ve heard the only reason he is staying at City is because nobody wants to pay his wages. If he’s Mancini’s #1 target then surely he should have been here by now if what Thohir is saying is true.
No. It’s because city thinks toure is too important to let go. And toure flattered with city’s seriousness and decided to stay.
Hell Yeah, Thohir! I believe in this guy. I just hope we keep Icardi and Kovacic and build the team around them. If Kova has the same form like in the beginning and end of the season and isn’t surrounded by complete nitwits, he can become the most menacing creative midfielder in Italy. And with Icardi in front of him they can be unstoppable.
I always believed in this president. Don’t blame him or Mancini. Blame nutheads that are playing for us, players who were brought in by incompetent management of the past. Rebuilding won’t be easy nor fast but it will succeed. I’m sure of it.
Dear Mr. Thohir,
Apart from considering new investments, please do not forget to protect your existing. Keep Icardi and Kovacic at all cost. Do not fall for the temptation of cashing in. Not only for the sake of keeping the talent, but also as a symbolic gesture towards the fans to show that you are serious. As an Inter fan, I am really tired of reading daily news stories about both big and small clubs taking it for granted they can buy our big talents just like that. This is Inter, not some small feeder club. Let us have some pride and show the Liverpools, Man Utds, Real Madrids etc that it is an insult to even think they can buy our top players.
This is Inter, the greatest club in the world! Don’t ever forget it..
i’m sure thohir is somewhere checking what MR.FB has to say about him in sempreinter.com ……….
Hehe, no he probably won’t. But at least I got to share my opinion with fellow Interisti, which is more or less the general idea of posting comments..
lol just teasing u .tbh some the only real talent we have is icardi and kovacic , and at some point they both will leave . i think that this team as a whole lacks the mentality , the reason why inter won the treble was mostly to the champion mentality that the players possessed . selling talent is fine for me as long as the price is right . the thing i have stressed time alot in here is that the squad at our disposal lacks what it takes to be a winner . to me a we need to bring leaders first than inject young talent . if kovacic and icardi are to be sacrificed on the way . so be it …. it will be for the greater good of the team
Don’t forget about Hernanes and Shaqiri! And maybe Brozovic.
yes for the first two for sure . i was talking about sellable ones .
That’s right
I get what you are saying, and agree on the lack of mentality and winning attitude. I’m just not sure that we can buy our way to it. The funds we would get from selling Icardi and Kovacic, wouldn’t neccessarily even cover the cost of getting same level replacements. I think the attitude needs to be built from within the club, starting from management showing that they believe we are a big club, and getting rid of the underperformers first before even considering getting rid of the true talents. Over time Inter have always performed the best during periods of continuity. Since 2011, we have had constant changes, every year always hoping that some of the mediocre players we have bought turned out to be revelations. They just never do. At the same time we have let go some real talents like Coutinho and Destro at far to low values. I say keep the talent and build the new team around them. Icardi and Kovacic are both young, and its not like their value will decrease any time soon. Let their talent benefit us, and help us together with some quality additions and talent developed from the primavera, build a team for the future.
Invest 100mil euro thohir… and don’t sell kova..
Ok then give Mancini what he wants.
Hehe if only… mancini wants everyone.
Lol. Like a fat kid who loves cakes
More like a whore that has way too many options.
Lmfao a whore will fuck anything if the price is right apart from bolotelli lol
XD
You mean give Man City a blank cheque like he had at Man City and before that with Moratti? In that case, it is better to change the coach.
If u think money does not buy success then yes you have the right name madguru. Mancini is a winner like most managers. Look around guru mourunio, ancherlotti, pep, conte,Rafa ect all spent big to win. Even wenger spent big and he won a FA cup. Mancini is s special and dear person to Inter because he won the title for us 3 times regardless of anything else so bro if your with us show him the respect he deserves!!!
I don’t think I disrespected Mancini. He was my favourite Italian player while he was a player and had the greatest admiration for him. Mourinho won with CL with Porto and to a certain extent won the CL with Inter, who were considered much inferior to Bayern and Barcelono and Chelsea. Conte took over a demoralized Juventus and won the league 3 times on the trot. Rafa took underdogs Liverpool to CL trophy. Mancini won the titles under Calciopoli and then he had a blank cheque at City and failed. I love Mancini but I believe as a die hard Inter supporter from 1993 I have the right to criticize. I totally respect Mancini but I am pretty sure that with the current squad he could have achieved at least Europa League. Even Mazzari achieved it.
Man city pal he won the league and 2 da cups and a league cup plus he made most of them players champions because most of them haven’t won silverware before in a top league!
Dunno why people criticize thohir… we’ve improved financially thats for sure.
lest talking and more working
In the Moratti era, we, supporters hardly got any informations and statements like this from the management. Now, they are informing the fans at least, and I appreciate that. I trust in Thohir, it wont be a quick process, but I think he can lead back the team where it belongs.
Thohir is probably working twice as hard as Moratti did.
thohir spend 30ish milions and moratti 1 200 000 euros, and bring superstar players…moratti give everthing he got in inter 😉
