After a very intense and tough morning workout where Roberto Mancini was very active Inter had a different training session in the afternoon. They faced Houssine Kharja’s Al Ahli who are also in the area for preseason training. The two teams used the afternoon training to play a game.
The 90 minutes played at Riscone show that the two teams Mancini fielded (one for each half) both did poorly, the opponents seemed in great shape and with a will to do well against Inter. Rodrigo Lima scored for Al Ahli after only 5 minutes played and Inter did not manage to score until Stevan Jovetic equalized on a penalty in the 90th minute.
Not a satisfying test, but there were a lot of changes and different tactics were tried by Mancini who started the game with a 3-5-2 formation and Shaqirir was back on the pitch from the first minute.

It’s because almost 50% of the players are new they need time to adjust and gel with teammates…Idk of you watched the gala vs inter game but it could clearly be seen that everyone wasn’t intune with each other in the parts of the field that counts.The defense apart from the goal wasn’t bad considering that Miranda was pretty much dropes into the side straight from vaca but was pretty sound…the midfield in that game they were all doing their roles pretty well the game was physical Guarin Kova and Kondogbia were pretty much going into challenges head on as if it wasn’t a friendly,got the ball but then as they had it nobody was willing to play a long ball to supply the attackers..they opted to play it short or thread a through ball through the eye of a needle which Kova did pull off but the chance was squandered by Icardi,one could argue it was miscommunication but I believe that was typical Icardi which brings me to the attack.Palacio seems to have given all that’s left in his tank,he’s no longer as sharp and decisive as he once was.He’s surely down on confidence that’s for sure… As a number 8 you’re supposed to supply for the striker in addition to finish your chances which at this current moment he’s not doing either.Passing when he should shoot or taking a shot when the better option would be a pass.I have also noticed his crossing has become very poor.I believe he’d be more effective coming on as a sub in place of jojo instead of starting.Our attack is toothless in other words.. Icardi as he sometime does,difts out as the game goes on and becomes isolated.The midfield doesn’t have a player that lauches good long balls though I believe kova can over time as well as kondogbia but with them not pumping balls upfield it sees Icardi being starved of service. Palacio does tend to drop back and collect the ball via a short pass but he either runs into defenders or gets in a cross that leaves much to be desired and a frustrated Icardi.Now,when the ball does get to Icardi he tends to take a shot even when it might not be the best option like the game vs Gala..I think there’s too much pressure on Icardi to score and he needs help sooner rather than later if were going for top 3 or anywhere close that. So in three points…1.Defense needs to get a bit more chemistry and they should be find… 2.The midfield needs to find ways of supplying the strikers,a short pass doesn’t always cut it.3.Icardi needs a proper partner,a decisive partner and while he’s at it work on his decision making..yes you’re a striker but if your partner is in a better goal scoring position pass! Don’t be selfish. With these problems adressed we should be fine. Forza inter!!
what about milan , fiorentina, roma, they all had significant changes, they stick managed wins and good games

They got absolutely destroyed by bayern 3-0 it was a demolition from start to finish..I mean we lost as well but only 1-0 ..Roma I didn’t follow them all that much but I doubt they made more changes than we did or even milan.Fiorentina hats off to them they played very well and looking good but this ia just preseason…we’ll come along with time.Our squad on paper is very good and when they start proving their worth it’ll be something to watch.

Handanovic played well as he usually did but I can clearly remember Murillo’s goal line save.We have a good team and regardless of who stopped the goals they only scored once… That’s the keepers job to save..he’s part of the team as well so even if Handanovic saved us that’s okay..We will get chemistry and then you’d see the money’s worth of quality proving all doubters wrong.

Very well said. Not much to add to that other than our RCM and LCM still think that Medel plays behind them, and he’s responsible of doing more defending. They should be reminded that Kovacic role is like Pirlo’s and they need to do more defending (Gala’s goal was scored based on this mistake)
You are absolutely right. Palacio is slow, so as Hernanes. I’d like to see Guarin tested at Hernanes role, and Jovetic starts instead of Palacio. Shaq also could be tested at Palacio/Hernanes position.
Where did Guarin play in 2013-2014 season? I’m not quite sure but it would be interesting having him advanced a bit more but pushing him up the field would mean that we lose what he brings defensively…I mean as he came off against gala we were completely overrun.Unless medel plays with kondogbia and with medel playing that would relieve kond of some of his defensive duties and he’ll bring out his creative side it really would be exciting. I think Shaq would be decent in Palacio’s position as well but unfortunately his work rate is no where close to palacio..actually nobody on the team has a higher work rate than Palacio even though he’s old he gives his all but his time has gone if shaq learns to drop in deep and collect the ball from midfield and picks out good passes then why not? He wants to stay we might as well utilize him.
Mazzari have utlized all Inter players in bes position suits the player the adapt his plans to suit his players, Mancini is playing icardi on the flanks which he sucks at because he need depth and balls from the inside to score just like Mazzari did with his, in half season with Mazzri he scored more goals than he scored with mancini, mancini is shifting players and ask them to adapt, some playerscant adapt, they were bought to play in certain position, and his ideas are ruining inter completely.. bring murinho back he will win seriea A with this very same team i have ni doubts
Mancini is developping Icardi into a Luis Suarez style no.9 because Maurito can do that. He has better feet than a reg no.9 (ex crespo, bierhoff). and like any new position it takes time to gainthe automatism. Now is the best time do it in preseason.
i just don’t know if that is gonna work out.. just think about Suarez and Icardi have completely different qualities, Icardi is fantastic striker, but can not be compared to Suares, that dog is fast amazingly accurate on target.. and he bites alot haha.. anyways its not just Maurito, you got kovacic, Guarin, Hernannes mede (which he had no problem adapting since last year) but thats only because he is pitbull, and dodo, which he utalize so incridablly wrong last year that i hold mancini responsible for dodos injury … i love manico . i respect his history,, and cautious about saying it because of 230 million pounds he spent in city .. for less impressive trophies, and i am only comparing the amount of trouphies to the amount of money.. and thats fair way to look at it

That’s true to an extent… WM does know how to get the most out of players but there’s a fine line between getting the most out of your players and getting the most out of the team which is why sometimes his results just got frustrating, sometimes you have to change stuff around a bit to suit the team more.Sometimes not everyone can play in their position as its it’s better to do what suits the team so yeah Mancini has asked some players to play out of their regular positions but I think he did it with the best interest of the team at heart..if you see what he did with JJ you’d know what I mean..there is not ONE inter supporter who can tell me JJ is better at CB than LB without sounding insane..his positioning is awful and his attributes is more suited for LB as he’s pacey and isn’t a lost cause attacking either..he can get back quick enough to defend so yeah all good there…Hernanes has been a revelation coming down to the end of last season playing him as CAM really got us some points,Hernanes even came out himself and said that he feels a new thanks to Mancini moving him higher up the field instead of CM.Now shifting doesn’t work with everyone we saw how Icardi looks isolated now especially when palacio doesn’t get the ball to him enough neither does the midfield as they don’t have that long ball vision it’s either that or they don’t have the confidence so in that I believe Icardi should be played a bit more central and deeper almost as a Centre forward but just don’t ask him to drop too deep I think it’ll work better like that for him.I understand your frustration but you have to back the manager..I mean come on ..preseason and you want him sacked? My word..the kid single handedly bossed the midfield he saved us on a number of times and proved to be the only one offerimg resistance in the midfield.If it wasn’t for kondogbia trust me we would have conceded much more goals not too sure about the stats but he made about 3 key interceptions.He is the only player from midfield that I know would be first choice to start,alot of pressure is on him and the french international isn’t backing down.Mancini is a great coach when it comes too bringing in players which is why they all say that Mancini was a major influence in them joining the club.Yes they should be saying that the fans and the history..and whatever but at the end of the day,nobody wants to play with a club who’s manager is a nobody. Palacio is very responsible when defending, but he loses the ball way too easy. If someone plays in his spot with more skills in holding the ball, and passing (Shaq) we might be Okay after all.

Yea all for Brozo. Shaq is poor at passing but he can hold onto the ball, he doesn’t have the vision for that position though. Shaq will excel if he has less options. He’s a reflex/instinct type of player, not a thinker.

my problme is swizz league and NT tournaments allow attackers more space and aren’t as disciplined in defense hence why he performed well. I remember seeing his performances at WC and with Basel IN Champs and he stood out but in that famou sgame 3-0 against honduras he also made a lot of mistakes. Even the swizz fans thought he was shit aside from the goals. (I was watching with many swizz friends).
Shaq came and said he was winger, and he faile din that position. He then came out and said AMF was his preferred position.. and failed again. I just don’t think he has the repertoire to succeed in a very tough league like Serie A. His play is entertaining but also very predictable and the downside to his game is the selfishness (rare for a no.10) and his turnovers. He does not link up well, he’s more of a mustang.
haha yes probably why Mancini wants Perisic, but Palacio-Icardi-Jovetic is not bad esp since Palacio does so much work for the team and his finishing has been OK in preseason. I don’t think the fans give Palacio enough credit, not too long ago he scored that wonderful goal to beat Milan in the derby. Yes he’s not flash or as fast as he used to be but he’s intelligent and can linkup well.
Podolski is podolski, yea most of the time he didn’t get to play where he wants but he wasn’t so bad. He missed some sitters but also showed his class sometimes. I kinda wish he would have stayed but the problem with him is that he’s a small club player, aside from german NT (again NT tournaments lower level) he’s mostly shined in smaller teams where he’s the big fish. (kind of like Shaq but I consider Podo a much better and more intelligent player, less flash more substance)

plus Palacio has amazing off the ball movement opening spaces for the other and stretching the opposing team. Palacio’s always been a Support striker even back in his Boca days. Sure he was faster but he still is relatively mobile and is a good foil to Icardi.

Now idk if you’ve been following the Colombian but he can seriously be compared to torres you aren’t gonna get goals from him anytime soon but that’s another thing by itself good work by fiorentina but they haven’t played teams that are doing all that well so I wouldn’t judge to say they’re better prepared than we are although the results tend to indicate that.

in itself a bad formation. Yesterday Fiorentina beat Chelsea in Stamford Bridge
with that formation. Other factors are more important in getting the desired
result.
And Juve won 3 scudetti in a row with that formation. It is a real good formation if you have the right players for it.
3-5-2 formation means we need quality pacey LM and RM supplying balls for forward line on a constant basis while they even come back and help in defense.. I can’t call any players like that in our team though I’m tempted to say Naga isn’t Allll that bad.

Yeah Rano has good presence in opponent’s penalty area.I think we we count JJ as a CB he’s good in attack to..but unfortunately he wouldn’t offer all that much in defense. His positioning is awfullllll.

I don’t see Shaq stepping up his game because his vision is very limited and vision… unfortunately… is not something you can really develop that much. You can work on FK, weak foot, touch, positioning… but not playmaking… even a young Pirlo who was still very rough still had that killer vision.
I remember seeing Pirlo at AMF with Inter and being so slow he was ineffective. It wasn’t until Mazzone converted him into a quarterback and made him do long passes that he fit (Ancelotti gets the credit but even he says I just did what Mazzone did)

My worry with keeping Shaq if the financial risk. If we sell now we can make a slight profit on his sale. If he stays and continues to do poorly, or gets benched, we are gonna lose a lot of money on him. It doesn’t bother him since the transfer price will be lower but he will be able to ask for a higher salary.
We’re already taking a risk on Jovetic and at least we know JOvetic can hack it in serie A as long as he stays fit. I think Shaq is bigger gamble since he’s worth more and we have more to lose… and he also doesn’t fit in the 4-1-2-1-2.

All i know both parties should found win-win solution, Inter got the money and Shaq got the club he wanted to play. In this case where ever inter sell him, well got the money but Shaq didn’t convince with his suitors, so i think it’s fair if he resist until he got what he wanted and if he risking another year of his career on the bench so that’s his choice since he didn’t have a better option. Inter also have option to terminate his contract as long as “get rid of him” is our main target but the club wont take the option because those way were really ugly right…??? Just respect the contract, thats it.
